Caught that too.
The preceding line was that the oldest wine in the world, blah, blah, blah, and I'm going, yeah right, Lot impregging his daughters, and all that ...
Then he says, 8,000 years ago, alright - say what ???

i'm 16 and it seems like most the people on this forum are adults.
i would think since most teenagers have tablets/smartphones there would be more on here but maybe not?
it would be nice to meet some other young people.
our last conversation was him yelling at me because i "loved the gays".
translation, i pointed out that nobody chooses their sexuality.
i've been shunned since daing last september, and really for a year or so after visiting my df'ed brother.
Complete class on your part.
Losing a parent is a forever moment.
Your actions will bring you solace for decades to come.
Respect.
off course you need to think back to when you were a jw to answer this question honestly and properly.but hypothetically if you had the spirituality and knowledge and was approached to be appointed as a gb member would you have taken on the position?and if you did what changes would you recommend ?.
j.
ferris bueller's day off was an huge flick when i was young, and it's a many-layered story.
i was watching this vid, and realized that one reason i love this movie, is that it could be one metaphor for my life.
i took the lead, did it my way, and have had one helluva lot of fun on the journey.

My fave movie of all time.
I've seen it over 20 times, and watched it many times with my kids.
(For those unaware of the ending in Deadpool, [best movie since Avatar] this was it).
i have always been opposed to the practice of shunning especially for simple mistakes, especially when someone questions the 'truth' or the gb.
or elects to speak to a shunned family member or close friend.
or violates the blood ban.. even as a practicing jw i was uncomfortable with shunning.. an article caught my attention today on ritual sacrifice.
Posted on another forum.
Rutherford was the originator of the value of martyrs, with his vitriolic letter to Hitler.
The WTS has always kept the value of martyrs in mind.
Today, it is most commonly seen with the Blood deaths, and with the sacrifice of family via shunning.
why are you guys so obsessed with organizations?
there has to be order in the world and organised people!
i just wanted to take a minute to encourage any that are leaving that the world outside isn't as scary as it was made out to be.
my wife and i officially da'd at the beginning of last september.
i've battled social anxiety, depression, etc.
it has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.
