I think as poorly of the WTS as anyone else on this board, but I have sympathy for non-prominent JWs who don't know any better. Some people, frankly, at the stage of life they are in, and in the mental & emotional state they are in, are better off within the JW system / structure than without it.
Older, rural JW lifers whose (virtually) entire social structure is built around the congregation & the Kingdom Hall generally fit that description, in my opinion.
The WTS is planning to harm their most dependent, vulnerable members, in order to serve Mammon. For a "loving organization", it is immoral (admittedly, they do much worse things to even more people....but it seems counterproductive to do it to people who buy into the system 100% as well).
In congo's with large rural territory, do the following: have the midweek meeting at the KH, and have satellite meetings in basement bunkers. Video tie-ins, and Skype for remote commenters.
Make the Sunday meeting a "cannot miss" meeting.
jehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.
they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.
they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?

Well, hello there.
i discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.
Marking is a very mean and devastating thing to do.... it is mental cruelty.

she died because of her religious principles.

This could, conceivably, lead to her telling you to vacate the house. You need to prepare an escape plan, more like a survival plan. Prepare yourself mentally and financially. A simple insurance policy. One day she tells you it's over and your out. You end up sleeping in your Toyota, asking yourself, " what do I do now"?

shepherd the flock page 91. i remember this is one of the first things that concerned me as an elder because it seemed to sound like a person is guilty until proven innocent rather than 'love believes all things', especially given the word 'convinced' appears in bold.. then in a training video one elder said something like 'unless we are convinced of repentance the shepherd the flock book says we must disfellowship'.
that was the begining of the end for me as i thought surely true christians would reason the other way round and show mercy wherever possible.. any thoughts?.

These spiritually qualified men are well aware that justice, or righteousness, requires that the congregation be kept clean. At times, elders are obliged to judge cases of serious wrongdoing. When doing so, they remember that divine justice seeks to extend mercy if at all possible.
