For YOU always have the poor with YOU
I always found that verse depressing.
It meant that we will never solve the problems, as JW's say.
Just accept that life is crap, and everything will be better in the next life.
just thinking, and speculating here.
who would have even immagined a tv channel as a change.
what could top that?.

i was given permission by a jw friend of my wife and me to post this experience.
she's anonymous and posts on the board.
she is married to a witness still but is fighting on behalf of children in her congregation to not be a next victim of a pedophile who attends her congregation.
Any update, Flip?
since the big 7 have appropriated this "blessed" title for themselves, and disavowed the existence of this slave prior to 1919, an obvious question comes up.. was it not the apostate maria russell that proffered that ctr was "the slave," and was the coiner of the term "the faithful slave"?.
if the slave did not come into existence until 1919, then how was it possible that prior to 1919 that anyone knew that it existed, or would have been able to foretell that it would come into existence?.
was maria a prophetic apostate?.
Wasn`t the scripture about "The Faithful & Discreet Slave" just a parable ? , not to be taken literally ?
More or less, my question.
Not a Adventist historian.
Was there other mention of the slave being someone during that time period, or was it indeed a creation of Maria?

any still attending who are going to give a comment about last year's memorial study article?.
I was thinking that somewhere around paragraph 19 -
Last year's Watchtower study about the Memorial asked the question: "Will this be our last Memorial"?
That one wasn't.
Will this one?

we've just started watching this swedish parallel-present series about human-like robots (hubots) seeking independence.. its really well done but subtitled (if you didn't mind the original "girl with the dragon tattoo") and the best description of it i was saw the stepford wives meets blade runner.
kind of creepy and unsettling and touches on some adult themed topics (robots for sex).. anyone else seen it?
i only started watching because i was too lazy to get up and get the remote one night but it was pretty gripping.. .

britain - a high court judge has ruled that the son of two jehovahs witnesses can be given a blood transfusion despite religious objections from his parents.. mr justice moylan was told by doctors that the very young boy had suffered severe burns in an accident and might need a blood transfusion.
the judge concluded that a blood transfusion would be in the youngsters best interests in spite of the deeply held views of his mother and father.. the judge said a health trust with responsibility for treating the boy had asked for a ruling.
he did not name anyone involved and did not give the childs age.. judgment - www.jwleaks.org/blood/case-no-fd14p00803.
I remember when a young sister received court-ordered transfusions.
At the time, I didn't know if it were better that she live or die.
If she lived, then the court would be proved right.
If she died, then she would be dead, but have died a martyr's death.
Pretty f'd up thinking.
Man, oh, man.
