Great social experiment.
i may take my fiance to a meeting.
give them fake names and just see how my fiance reacts.
he's been curious about seeing what i hated so much about the whole thing (not that he'll really understand everything, i mean of course he never will to my extent but)... i'd like to see what an outsiders view on the whole thing would be as well.

guess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.
david spane does his best to explain it again.
the cutoff date for this generation has now moved to 1992 (was once 1935), the year that fred franz died.
avaddohn94's quote of WT, June 1, 1997, QFR:
So the recent information in The Watchtower about “this generation” did not change our understanding of what occurred in 1914. But it did give us a clearer grasp of Jesus’ use of the term “generation,” helping us to see that his usage was no basis for calculating—counting from 1914—how close to the end we are."Splane in September broadcast on "This Generation:"
Are you beginning to see how this all connects with the urgency of our times?...
So brothers, we are indeed living deep in the time of the end.

Watchtower articles used to refer to the original Greek, and then to various commentaries on a particular word or phrase.
How about this time?
Biblehub and 2 commentaries below:

Barnes' Notes on the Bible
This generation ... - This age; this race of people. A generation is about 30 or 40 years. The destruction of Jerusalem took place about forty years after this was spoken. See the notes at Matthew 16:28.
Bengel's Gnomen
From the date of this prediction to the destruction of Jerusalem was a space of forty years, and from the true year of our Lord’s nativity to that event was a space of about seventy-five years. The Jews, however (as, for example, in Seder Olam), reckon seventy-five years as one generation, and the words, οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ, “shall not pass away,” intimate that the greater part of that generation, but not the whole of it, should have passed away before all the events indicated should have come to pass. The prediction is true with respect to either the forty or the seventy-five years. So accurately did the Evangelist describe it many years before the event took place.

Irony.
Splane is the one who stated: "If the Bible is silent, we must be silent," and then pulls this stuff out of the air.

hello friends.
my fleshy sister is seriously getting to my nerves.
she's my only (and younger) sister, and as you know, is married to an uber-circuit overseer.
Do they have telephone hookup to the meeting?
If so, use that as part of your fade. (Phone in and do something else.)
When you attend in person, you remind them to take action. (Out of sight, out of mind.)

allyson lee, who is a missionary in nicaragua, misquoted "a very special scripture" - acts 1:8. she said, "that the good news will be preached to the most distant part of the earth.".
I highly doubt you'll make a breakthrough.
Lee's are celeb-Dubs.

so, much against my inclination, i went to the meeting this sunday morning.
just starting to fade, but i needed to do it so that it doesn't look like my hubby turned my head during last week's vacations.
since i'm not just disappearing cold turkey, i went.
I find it ironic that the only commentary done by WT is the book of James.
The irony is because WT is the antithesis of James.
If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, yet a certain one of YOU says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it?
Yes it's just a drop in the ocean and maybe it's not hands-on help because I can't manage that right now, but what difference could it make if those 8 million people switched their time and donations to such charities!
Could you imagine if those people actually worked those hours, and used the funds to GENUINELY benefit their fellows (as God wants), or else used those hours directly helping their neighbour (Jesus was asked: "Who really is my neighbour?" He was someone of a different f***ing religion!!!
How did he help his neighbour. He cared for his PHYSICAL [medical, housing] needs.).
NOTE: Script keeps messing up post. Lots of missing text.
i think it does especially being that this organization is rigidly structured itself on formulated doctrines from a top hierarchy of men which are strictly enforced, among other reasons.
what cults are.
a cult is not necessarily a religious group, although religious cults are common, including breakaway sects from more mainstream faiths.
Charles Manson says that WTS are minor-leaguers, but that he's willing to help them improve given an appropriate agreement.
i do not clearly understand mainstream christian ideology, but i think that wt is a variation thereof.. wt teaches that god made adam and eve perfect, but that another one of god's perfect creatures, tricked eve into disobedience, thereby condemning adam, eve, and all of their offspring into a life of misery as a result.
this is because satan out-thought god, and essentially cornered god into this "legal challenge" that god had never foreseen.. that, to me, is one stupid god..
