  in the bible at 2kings 3:21-27 the israelites have gone out to attack the moabites with allies.

  the moabites think that the israelites have already been in a fight because they see what they think is blood in the water, so they attack.

  they were wrong and the israelites are kicking their butts all back across their land.

  Were Daniel and Jeremiah contemporaries?

  i've recently read who wrote the gospels, it mentioned on a side note from the gospels that daniel was probably written around 200 bce not during nebuchadnezzars reign.. in daniel chapter 9 he mentions reading the phophetic words of jeremiah about the 70 years of servitude.

  jeremiah lived in a different land (judah) while daniel was in babylon.

  how would daniel have been able to get jeremiahs scrolls seeing they had just been written and also the position daniel was in as chief of nebuchadnezzars magic practising priests would not have bode well for real jewish worshippers to think about making any saturday morning placements with him.. the book i read states that jeremiah, daniel and most of the other books seperate from the talmud were not canonized until around 200 bce.. any thoughts on this or have you done or read anything on this subject.

  I will leave you all with some new schoolarship then. Many are now questioning the book of Ezekiel..... Some feel it might even date after Daniel but because it is an Aaronic-Levitcal book it would have been accepted by the Maccabean dynesty. Daniel a crude book of cowards would have been rejected.

  
  

  As for Ben Sura's referances I find it funny...200 BC?.... Not likely the guy Jesus son of Sirach is placed around 180 BC however it is his GRANDSON who wrote the book... I would say Sirach is around 150.

  To summerize.:

  A Levite man has a concubine and she runs away to her father. He chases here there and stays several nights. Later they depart but since it's getting dark they stay in Gibeah of Bejamen (If anyone connects this story to saul they are right it is a propaganda against Saul). An old man lets then stay by men surround the house and ask to rape the Levite. (Homosexuality). The guy refuses and throws his concubine out and she in gang raped all night long.

  In the mornign he find her layign at the door dead. Does he mourn... NO he cut her up into twelve pieces and send he into all Israel as a message thus apparently causing and army to be riled together.

  Ask  a JW so far what they see moral about this?

  They insteed chose war and war for 3 days killing thousand of their brothers.... Where is Jehovah. Apparetley drunk until Phnehas wakes him up on the third day, then Jehovah tells them: "Do what Joshua did.l. set and ambush"... well not the words.. but the idea is the same....

  So they do and win but as typical they kill everyone.. men, women, babies even animals. 600 escape.

  i stumbled across a scripture today.

  it's numbers 13:33 "and there we saw the nephilim, the sons of anak, who are from the nephilim, and in comparison we seemed like grasshoppers, both to us and to them.. now if they honestly believed that they saw the nephilim, it would mean that some nephilim would have had to survive the flood or that the hijinks of the fallen angels before the flood, happened again shortly thereafter.

  the only other thing i can come up with is that nephilim was some kind of generic word that implied giant proportions, but not necessarily the nephilim.. comments from the more educated appreciated.. silent.

  We are talking about two myths. Giants and the flood.

  The basis for the flood legned is differcult to ppintpoint by likely originated as oral stories around the black sea. Around 8000-6000BCE at the end of the last ice age as the ice melted flooding occured in what had been lowlands.  These stories were passed down until a story was written down around 2200 BCE which later because a Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh.

  Jews in the exile were exposed to these stories and remember after the return in the 6th and 5th centuries carried it with them. 

  I used to think the flood story (J) was written in the exile however the evidence is the book og Genesis was unknown or quoted by anyone until after 200BCE. in the Hellenistic period.

  Berosos a Babylonian hostorian writing in the 280s wrote  history of Babylonian in Greek. Included in it was the Flood story from the Epic. (along with many other stories.

  The Greek Septuigent in the FIRST record we have of biblical history** It was 'translated' in the 270s or 260s... I think the Jews created and Epic. and used Berosos. 

  The Giant legends are less easy. However given this is in the same book as the flood these are likely Jewish version of Hellenistic legend such as Cyclos etc.  Indeed Genesis ^:1 sounds like the gods coming to earth.

  Memories. .. share the earliest or most favorite childhood memory

  my daughter tells me that experts say children tend to have false memories.

  apparently their brain tends to fill things in that may not be totally accurate.. i refuse to believe that my favorite and comforting memory might not be true.

  so here is to fond memories real or not.. the earliest memory i have is being put in a crib at a preschool.

  Thanks to saving family pictures I have my memories chronicled...

  My earliest memory is March 1980... I was 1 year 10 months....I remember only building a table of white plastic... the photos I have confirm thiis memory...

  Ad for after its smooth.. I can recall alot incluing some thig that at the time was perseved in pictures up to 1982.. after 1983 I rmember not partts BUT ALL.... I remember all.. from 5-36 sadly... Wow JWS poisened me with creation and Jeblooper..

  Why JWs like Science Fiction

  in the 1800 jules verne wrote alot of science fiction most of which came true..... back tot he future is remembered today as it's 2015 and we all know hoverboards and flying cars are supposed to be here... remember that futurists are not god lol.

  i don' belive in god but still this is a wierd subject.

  i'm referring to "the bible unearthed : archaeology's new vision of ancient isreal and the origin of its sacred texts" by israel finkelstein and neil asher silberman.

  i think it should be required reading for anyone who deigns to defend the historicity and literal interpretation of the bible.

  (i'm looking at you singlecell).

  I own the book and use it as a basis for archeology. As for it's dating of the biblical texts I reject it since it's all based on a 'story' in 2 Kings which really can't be proven. Other then that the book is a good introductory to the reality archeology is uncovering.
