48% Capacity at Kingdom Halls - A post on reddit
by berrygerry inthere was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.
this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.
they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

The Ultimate Conversion
by Etude inone thing that surprised me shortly after joining this site was the number of individuals who, after experiencing the deception of being a jw and the hypocrisy of the “truth”, switched to being catholic or “born-again” evangelists.
it seemed to me like jumping from the hot pan into the fire.. i don’t want to piss anyone off for his or her choices.
i feel everyone is free to believe what they may.

Exactly what I have said here for awhile. If you leave JWs and become a 'christian' you are just a hypocrite in my opinion. Once science is shown debunking Christianity why stay?... to be a fool perhaps?... Is that what the WT does to people?.
I am thankful that most on here are non believers and if you must be spiritual (like me) try Buddhism or naturalism...

Redating the bible-Song of deborah (Shamgar)

the presents ex 15 and judges 5 as early but not contemporary.. well wake up... i'm a minimalist however i know the song of deborah fits somewhere.... like before omri.. (established as the first israelite ruler of israel..).
so where does that leave deborah or the song of the sea... both early hebrew but not canaanite.... the answer laid in shamngar...note:.

Sangara was a king of Carchemish, who until now was only known from Assyrian sources (but in 2015 he has been finally identified in Hieroglyphic Luwian too by the Turco-Italian Archaeological Expedition at Karkemish).[1] He is documented for 870 to 848 BC.[2]
Sangara likely accessed the throne of Carchemish only a short time after king Katuwa known from Hieroglyphic Luwian sources.[3] He is only mentioned in texts of the Assyrian kings Ashurnasirpal II and Shalmaneser III.[4]
First, Sangara was tributary of Ashurnasirpal II.[5] In 870 BC[6] (alternative dating: 882 BC[7]) the Assyrian king crossed the Euphrates and first turned against Carchemish. Facing the Assyrian army Sangara captulated quickly and paid a rich tribute because Carchemish was one of the wealthiest Syro-Hittite states of that time. He also had to send his chariotry, cavalry and infantry to support the Assyrian army. In return Sangara and Carchemish were spared by the Assyrians.[8]
In 858 BC Sangara participated in an anti-Assyrian coalition against Shalmaneser III which was formed by Aḫuni of Bit Adini, Hayyanu of Sam'al, Šuppiluliuma of Pattin and himself. They attacked the Assyrian army on the territory of Sam'al but were repelled.[9] The uprising of Carchemish continued until Shalmaneser III destroyed the fortified city of Sazabu on the territory of Carchemish in 857 BC. Sangara capitulated and paid rich tribute.[10]
In 853 BC, Sangara paid tribute to the Assyrians again.[11]
In 849 BC, Sangara tried uprising again, this time forming an alliance with Hadram of Bit Agusi. Shalmaneser III invaded the state of Carchemish, destroying and burning several cities in Sangara's dominion. Sangara capitulated but not for long. In 848 BC, Hadram and he uprose again Shalmaneser III reacted by capturing and destroying 97 of Sangara's cities. For the period after 848 BC nothing more is known about Sangara but it is likely stayed on his throne as a faithful vassal of the Assyrian king as his ally Hadram of Bit Agusi did.[12
So this is the dating of that song... likely also before Omri... meaning:m Jeroboam, Abajam, Baassha,Elah are myths...
This song introduces YHWH to Northern Canaan and thus we have no need to worship the god of Edom .. Like half the world does... Christians, Islams, Jews...

The Tribe of Dan was NOT a genuine tribe of Israel

but there are wider implications in the story.
if this particular group of people did not travel from egypt (as god's word of truth also claims) then they must have lived in canaan all the time.. then consider that palestine (canaan) was for so long part of the egyptian empire, and we begin to see that most of story about the origins of the israelites is mythical..

Apologists saying that the JWs shouldn't be banned, what the hell!??
by Crazyguy init's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.
i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.
they are an extremist group!

I disagree... Freedom of religioins towards an organization be it the WTS or the Holy See should not be tolerated...
Personal freedom .. by all means..
If the JWs in Russia want to continue the JW lifestyle... minus preaching... go for it.. I support their freedom within their home to do so...
The moment they take it to the street ir flash around building or an organization they face ban after today... And that s a GOOD thing.

When did the Iron Age start according to the Bible? You'll be surprised!
by Crazyguy inread this over at reddit so the credit goes to the person over there but in genesis 4:22 it's say one of the offspring of adam knew how to work with iron roughly 130 years after the creation of man.
now historians and scientists say man didn't figure out how to use iron until about 1100 bc, man we're we wrong!
it's also interesting that cain is building a city when there like 10 people on the planet and nimrod goes on to build the tower of babel only about 100 year after the flood.

Helping someone to wake up to "the truth about the truth"
by stuckinarut2 inwe all have loved one that we wish we could "wake up" from the society.. of course it is not wise to force them with information, as that could just cause their defences to go up and make them dig their heals in.. this reminded me of an illustration that the society actually used at a convention many years back:.
if we want someone to move out of their dilapidated, run down and dangerous house that they are sentimentally attached to, we cant just grab them and drag them out.
they will object.. but, if we build a brand-new, safe, secure attractive home right next door and allow them to see it be built, their curiosity will be sparked.

The catch word is TRUTH.
Its ironic... Its also perfect.
Ask them to prove its the truth. If they start with doctrine to prove JWs are the true religion ask for proof the bible is true. If they start down there then move to proof for god. They will fail those two points and either give up or you will plant a seed.
