NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

The medical document has no power as long as you are conscious. You have to be unable to make medical decisions in order for the power of attorney to be implemented. I seen one jw tell the liaison committee to get lost and not to come back unless you hear I am unconscious. They can be a pain in the rear. There is always a large number of jws in each cong that don't get them filled out. Be one of those... there is only so much the elderdubs will do before they give up. -

"508 Million Year Old" Exceptionally Preserved Embryos Found
by Perry inactually, they we found over 100 years ago.
but because so many dinosaur bones have yielded soft tissue, blood cells, dna fragments etc.
, many have predicted (including myself) when all this really broke loose in 2005, that many more similar discoveries would be made simply by going back and cracking open old fossils and having a look inside.

Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

My mom died in 1994. I remember her thinking that she would not be dead for long because we were 80 years past 1914.
this just cracked me up... thanks for the laugh. -

Is it true: the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away?
by FinchAndWeston ini heard that the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away ... is this information true/false?
just curious.
it's secondhand.

The CO gave the memorial talk locally here.
He asked the question "how long will we continue to celebrate the memorial?"
He said "lets let the bible answer that for us."
He then read: For whenever you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes. - 1 Cor 11:26.
He then said that after that when the 144k are all in heaven the memorial will no longer be observed.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

@Fisherman - the bible tells why men who claimed gods backing in the past were removed or punished... Moses, David, Saul, Solomon, etc. There were many more. Not only that but it was made public at the time... most knew about it. Whether you believe the bible or not, the WTS claims to follow it so why not some transparency? Oh I know... there waiting on god to do it... silly me.

A poll of sorts: How long have you been a "fader" for?
by SecretSlaveClass ini'm curious about the following:.
1) how long have you been a fader for?.
2) how often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?.
-
RichardHaley
1) How long have you been a fader for?
7 years
2) How often do you still get pressure from congregation members and/or family to return as an active witness?
once or twice a year from members I run into aside from work (work with several dubs and no pressure there)
3) What is the longest period you have ever known anyone to successfully fade? A successful fade in my view, would be someone who has faded for a period of time but no longer receives any pressure to return to active service (completely left alone).
I know several over 20 years, this question should be reversed to "shortest successful fade?"
4) If you have been a fader for more than two years, do you fear you would eventually have to face DA or DF?
No... that is easily avoided
5) As faders, how many of you are being treated as if you were DF'd/DA'd?
Only being treated/avoided as a spiritually weak one.
6) Have you faded rather than DA'd due to the possible loss family or is it because you have no network of friends outside the Org?
For family only, I could care less about "jw friends"
7) If you consider yourself a fader how many meetings/assemblies/ field service groups do you still attend on average per month?
0.5
8) As a fader do you feel that the Org is completely powerless over your life?
They still have some power because if I speak my mind to family then I would lose them.

Question: refuse, or limit to collaborate with elder inquiry?
by prologos inshould a teen, a child of a believing mother, cooperate in the fact-gathering of the elders into the waywardness (not sex related, hopefully) of some local teenagers?
what scenarios can you see playing out?
all teens to clam up?

Why all the secrecy in Gods organisation?
by Truthexplorer inlooking back and seeing all the secrecy and cover ups throughout wt history such as the secret elders books, the branch correspondence guidelines, the shameful lying and deceipt exposed during the arc questioning, the in-house way of dealing with things, the lack of openness to the media on issues such as blood or child abuse or anything controversial for that matter.
could this relate in some way to russell's alleged past as a freemason?
it seems quite strange that the founder of the bible students quite possibly may have been a freemason, (an organisation well known for its secrecy).

It is only logical that and organization that is manipulative and misleading would also have secrecy in their bag of tricks. -

Fade Fail: Not as Easy as I'd Like
by Hadriel inthis has been tough.

because i'm so integrated into things including certain tasks which i can't say as it would be a dead giveaway i find myself constantly bombarded by things.. i'm literally a lying every day.

I don't know your circumstances and can only give my personal experience at fading, maybe some of it can help you... or not. I was an elder when I made the decision. I resigned immediately and put it in writing to the boe and the co. I used a legitimate reason, turned in my book and necessary papers at the very beginning of the e meeting and excused myself and left while they were still in shock. After that I didn't hang around with any servants before or after the mtngs. I then stopped commenting at meetings and reduced field service activity. After about 6 months I told the school servant I needed a vacation from the school for a while. Started being irregular in fs and eventually stopped reporting all together. I now occasionally go to a Sunday mtng and that is it. I haven't had much pressure from anyone. All my family is still in and just thinks I am weak. My wife knows the whole scoop and is also waking up. I don't engage in any conversation about jw stuff with anyone, and I am pretty good at changing the subject when necessary. I even work with jws and it has been np. It is amazing how fast they can forget about you. When I feel the urge to say something I don't. Right now my moto is "If you don't promote it you don't have to defend it." Hope things smooth out for you. -

Fleecing the Flock
by Coded Logic inat the last assembly i attended in 2005 the cost was $11,000 per day in yuba city (just over two hours away from our circuit).
this always seemed a bit high for a facility that was built on donated land and whose construction loan had been paid off for 20 years.. i just looked up the cost to rent the redding civic center, which is just as nice if not nicer and a whole lot closer for our circuit, and it only costs $2,500 a day plus $250 for consumables (parking included).
if it would save the brother's and sister's $8,250 a day and they could have the assembly locally why wouldn't they do it?.

I worked on the ycah hall when it was built. I was a teenager and things were less strict back then. It was fun. Was from the Redding area and did attend some assemblies at the convention center. Then our circuit was assigned to go to ycah even though the convention center was still being used for circuits north of Redding. As far as I know, all of N Ca goes there now. It has been remodeled dozens of times and has had some major issues but has been paid off for decades. 12k a day or more now.... transparency would be nice, but will never happen.
