I think the only thing that will get you through this intact is if you have a really close friendship with your other, sadly most jws did not have this best friends type of relationship going into their marriage, to the contrary I've seen elders pressure the quick marriages of virtual strangers,

When you left the meetings you "left Jehovah" You do realize that jws equate "The Society" with Jehovah right? A good jw puts Jehovah First in his/her life, do you ever feel that you are competing with the Almighty for attention?

i was a baptised brother born in a jw family with my dad as the elder.
i left (or fade) a year ago and i am still a student studying in college.
i would like to post something here since i have quite a complicated feeling after a year out.

One of the reasons we don't is that we're conditioned to want priveliges, everything from mike handling (sounds ludicrous doesn't it) pioneering, sitting/guarding contribution boxes, commenting, ms/elder, need greater recommendations, the list is endless, "the greatest among you should be your brother" HAHA
So the provided motivation is to SHUT UP!

Maybe this will help: My room mate was in service with the co, Society had just changed the special pioneer allowance, the allowance had always been in fairly even amounts like $60/mo, it was now $104, so my friend remarked that it was an "odd number" to which the co said: "are there many things the society does you find odd?" (true) We next found out that our apartment was bugged (joking)

What I also remember well is the Society's banning of friendly congregation ball games as being competative and therefore wrong (70s), A brother I knew, while this was being said, said out loud "These guys are out to lunch" He soon left the jws, I thought at the time how disrespectful etc, now I just laugh, he was right! :0)

For me it was that I (a 10 yr old only child) should have absolutely no friends, this being preferable to having one pretty decent worldly kid as my friend, I suppose (sarcasm) that his basic joy in life could rub off on me :0)
something that has often struck me in my morning musings is: why should “god’s people” ever need to hide or flee in fear?.
there are numerous accounts recorded in the bible, both ot and nt, where prophets, kings, apostles and others have either been told to flee and hide or have just experienced that normal human feeling of fear and have fled and hidden instinctively.
even recently, the wtbts has produced vivid images in the wt magazine and videos of “god’s people” hiding out in bunkers to avoid detection.. is it just another broken promise from jehober that he will “without fail” protect “his people”?
If you asked a knowledgeable jw they might tell you about Christians fleeing Jerusalem in 66 CE and finding refuge in the hills of Perea, this was them being obedient to jc's instructions to "flee when you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies"
Nothing about bunkers though, maybe jws are expecting updated instructions, new light no doubt (I find their thinking in these matters rather troubling, think Waco)
