@Steve2
"Why is a raven like a writing desk?
I haven't the slightest idea"
Is yours an enigma
Or are they both nonsense
I know what I believe
:)
two ironys here... first of all the title "keep in expectation as jehovahs day draws near" - (this talk is from 2006!!
) i suppose 11 years isnt near enough.
second is that geoffrey jackson, of all people, is giving a talk that goes on and on about liars and how jehovah never lies.

Re: sir82
Working in Convention accounts we were told
that ConventionsTM were the single biggest source of the Society's
income
:)
@paladin1 I know from past years that the reason usually has to do with
the logistics of stadium rental at a deemed reasonable rate
Coupled with hotels/motels that will cooperate with Watch Tower
:0)
straight from the off, i will say that i'm 100% atheist.
i have no faith.
however, it occurred to me while thinking back over my involvement with the jw religion and especially when i take into account personal and family situations where people have made life altering choices due to being jw's, just how crazy it really is.
Re: Rainbow_ Troll Re: blood transfusions if you don't want to be
disassociatedTM"
A bit of a headache but, save your life, then (your choice) confess or wait
for if/when you get caught then exercise heartfelt repentanceTM, the
pressure of the situation etc,
Personally I would just be out of there and find new friends outside of the
cult
:0)

Thank you but I think I'll pass
:)
steve2: is there some way this can be presented so that it is crystal clear what was actually in the demonstrations and what was added?
i guess some will think it should be obvious - but this is where misunderstandings arise because we end up wrongly attributing something to jw organization that was never said.. circuit assembly theme: maintain love for jehovah!.
note to speaker: warmly encourage young ones to prove their friendship with jehovah by observing his commandments and defending his standards.
When Jehovah stuffs the life out of 8.5 BILLION people He will make sure
that each knows that He doesn't hate them
:)
Re: steve2
Watch Tower has been relying on an infusion of youth for as long
as I can remember (and that's a long time)
I've seen a lot of folks forgotten in Seniors' Homes
No Elder's (ironic) visits as time can't be counted,
I don't remember any CO visit where bros were encouraged to visit the elderly
It's been stated "any society is judged by how it treats it's most vulnerable
members"
I judge "The Society" as being sick
Encourage the young lemmings to "Not Give Up"
That's the way it's always been
:(
Maybe a "worldly" person would think that the JWs are trying
to encourage folks in view of the Trump Presidency
:0)
i am interested in finding out on a small scale the extent of which shunning has impacted on you personally.. my own experience is that when i faded about 12 years ago.
the woman whose house the book study was held at (and who was virtually a neighbour) walked right past me in my own street.
i remember it so well.
Re: scratchme1010
"I shunned them"
I like this idea,
I takes away their sense of control
It pokes at their sense of self righteousness
The Gospel writers had something to say about the latter
I was appalled by Deborah Frances White's story
of being detained in a Vancouver KH
For interrogation
Above the law even, apparently,
There's a joke that goes around about if everlasting life involves
Living forever with Jehovah's Witnesses
They're not interested
I concur
:0)
at the meeting today, we were reading the watchtower and this elder apologetically said to such a degree in regards to romans 5:12 that "we humans are not worthy of any mercy from jehovah.
we shouldn't even have free will because we can't possibly do anything good enough to please jehovah.
we don't even deserve life because of sin.
This teaching permeates Christendom
Based on scriptures like Roman's 5:12
This rationale leads to practices such a as self-flagellation
That monks perform in monasteries over the centuries
"Take that you worthless piece of crap!"
It's this same sick rationale that abusers use to keep their victims in
check
Believers don't seem to get that the original template originates with
the God of the Bible
Works wonders in building self esteem (sarcasm)
Nice
