Question for those who went to the RC
by joe134cd ini'm just curious with all the happy clapping that is now going on with the singing at the conventions.
what has been the reaction to it with the r&f.
has anyone ever commented that it reminded them of a pentecostal revival meeting.

Was just remembering playing with one of the "Theocratic Orchestras" In rehearsal I was caught tapping my foot, not sure if the conductor knew it was me or not but told the orchestra that "tapping was the musical equivalent of sinning against the spirit" I assume he's spinning in his grave right now,

JW Parents and kicking out their children
by NJ501 inis it a common practice for jw parents to kick their children out of the home, if the child doesn't want to be a jw.
(even though their not disfellowshipped they will still get kicked out for not going to meetings etc.??).
do other religions encourage kicking family members out this as well?

Also, in regard to the question on whether jw parents are showing conditional love in kicking them out, they have been brainwashed (by use of videos recently) that such shunning is actually SHOWING CHILDREN A TYPE OF TOUGH LOVE!
This is truly twisted

Churches don't generally make official rules as to when to expel their "rebellious" children, JW's are the same in this regard, there is a citation of the Law of Moses that says 'rebellious' children should be stoned to death and then allow parents and others to make their own application, If they say anything specific such as "young folks should not be allowed their driver's license before they get baptized" this is done verbally only, not in writing, so folks (governing body in this case) cannot be held accountable,
My father started threatening home expulsion when I was 15, I was out at 16, (although I was baptized at 15 I was disrespectful)

the brother/organization lied about how old they are.
he said oldest tree is 4200 years old when it is actually 5000 years old.

I'm writing a letter to my country's branch
by Ray Frankz inhi everyone.. well, i have some good news.
after having a terrible moment arguing with my mom about the 1914 teaching and all it evolves (she get really upset and i felt great regret for starting the argument) she came to me next day and started talking with a much more open mind, and she talked about a lot of concerns too.. she and my father naivily expressed the wish to write to bethel to ask about 607bc.
i told in all the possible ways it wouldn't work.

FYI: longstanding practice of WT is to send all correspondence to your nearest KH where it will be read and handled by your local elders,

What made you stay "in" even when you knew it wasn't the "truth"?
by mentalclarity inso i've been thinking a lot about why i stayed a jw for so long even though i had always had doubts about the doctrines.
i was born into the religion, left and came back as an adult for another decade.
some of the things that come to mind (besides the threat of shunning-and this isn't to minimize that very real threat) was:.
