  should there be a rule against posting PMs ?

  most people feel that it is unethical to post private messages.. how ever there does not seem to be a posting rule against it.. some people unfamiliar with posting on boards may not realize that it is not done to post private messages .

  ( even though it would seem self evident with the word private in it.).

  so what do you think about making it an official posting rule?.

  Weird crazy rules imposed by your local Elders.

  we all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).

  then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.

  another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .

  Several years ago a PO lectured me about a suitable motor vehicle. He droned on and on but it was worth it for the punch-line : " It is unscriptural for a sister to ride a motor-bike." After I picked myself up off the floor, I asked him if he thought I ought to ride my horse side-saddle. He took me seriously and graciously gave me permission to ride astride. That put me back on the floor laughing my head off again.

  the enemy of jehovah's witnesses is the individual whose thoughts are their own & who demand reasonable access to alternate forms of source material other than officially approved ones.. there is no loyal opposition permitted for redress of abuse or clarification of policy.. .

  there are enemies, however.

  any person or group who does not agree is the declared enemy.. mind control on the part of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is not an openly declared boilerplate mission statement.

  OK...so..it's like this : I clicked on the msg again, and Lo! There appeared before me a reply button on the blue bar. I SWEAR IT WASN'T THERE BEFORE!

  Dear OneEyedJoe,

  Thank-you for replying. There really was no reply button at all. I noticed a red no. 1 beside the little envelope logo, clicked on it,read the msg ok and looked everywhere for a way to reply, but no joy. I really don't want the sender to feel that I am ignoring him. Is there some other way I can contact him. His user name is yadda yadda 2. I hope I haven't broken etiquette by saying that.
