  FMF Rant on Abuse and JW Apologists: The Single Root of the Whole Issue(s)

  for the jw apologists, they debate certain factors to down play all the recent sex abuse information in the jehovah's witness organization.

  and there is so much focus on "two witness rule" and "parents can report" the "elders aren't legal authorities" and many other smoke screen issues.

  a lot of these issues and discussion are down stream from what i believe to be the root of the issue.

  When I was facing a judicial committtee many years ago, one of the elders asked me if I would prefer my family instead of obeying Jehovah when persecuted. He specified: "if the police threat you to kill your family if you don't tell some names of the members of the congregation, what would you do?...would you betray your brothers?" I said: "I have never been in that case". So, the elder told me: "we must hate our flesh to obey Jehovah".

  this australian investigation is astounding to watch.. the elders clearly don't see child abuse as criminal, if a jw confessed to murder, the police would immediately be called.

  yet child rape is a spiritual issue..... ridiculous.. this is what happens when 7 window cleaners lead a bunch of dangerously loyal, ignorant middle aged men ...... in managing 7 million people..

  20:28 - jesus' shed blood, thus related to murder.

  with the words of augustine firmly in mind we now ask this important question:.

  abstaining from blood(shed) preserves life!

  Firstly I have to say that not always we can get the logic of the christian theologians of the first century. However, it is interesting the quote that mentions what Augustine heard about the policy : "abstain from blood", because it seems that the prohibition of eating unbled animals was already mentioned in the abstention of "things strangled". This is why Tertullian at the end of the second century mentioned that christians do not eat sausage of blood. So, it makes sense if "to abstain from blood" meant "do not murder".

  Could this news cause a new revolt of members taking the lead like that which happened after the 1975 fiasco?

  we know that after the 1975 fiasco there were some revolts and disappointments in the brotherhood, which finally caused the removal of raymond franz and overseers like james penton, and so on.

  so, may be these news could cause the revolt of some members in the leadership.

  any thoughts?

  I remember that some decades ago the Catholic Church was arrogant in denying that the sexual abuse was an issue in the Church. At least, the John Paul II ignored the complaints against the priest Marcial Maciel, and so on. However, I think that the frequent news obligated the Vatican to admit that the Church has serious problem with sexual abuses. However, the GB still doesn't want to admit it.

  has anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?

  i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?

  well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

  The brother emphasized to the congregation that if they expect Jehovah to give them everlasting life in the paradise earth, then they will stay away from any "News" or internet articles that badmouths the Watchtower.

  To listen to such news is "Touching the Unclean thing"

  Interestingly, they think that they are being sanctified by avoiding TV reports against them. In the same way, they think that they are saints because they do not donate blood.

  Religion is still the best way to hide crimes.

  in the australian royal commission enquiry into child abuse and the way institutions handle such is underway.. today the judge said the following in response to the way judicial committees operate:.

  (not verbatim...but the gist of his comments are:).

  "so a young woman, a suspected victim of abuse or someone accused of a sin, would have to appear before three older men in a 'judicial committee' and relate in detail her ordeal?
