Ironic quote in the 5/14wt lesson "Are you moving ahead with Jehovahs Organization"
by BU2B inthe whole article makes me ill with its worse than average mind control.. i was going to only include one quote but there are so many doozies that i will post what i feel to be the worst.. from paragraph 6.
"gods organization survives and flourishes on earth because the people who are part of it have his approval.".
the great tribulation has been "so close" for over 120 years of wt history.

Marked. I probably state this in most of my posts but I only recently starting looking into all of this. I have found so much out in such a short period of time that this org is really starting to piss me off. Maybe I need a break..............

Jehovah's Witnesses and "Reasoning."
by donny inback in the mid 1980's the ones in charge of "giving food at the proper time" actually released a book called "reasoning from the scriptures.
" although this publication supposedly used reasoning as a tool to show the truth if the truth, in reality it just served the purpose of spoon feeding the publishers as they ventured out into field service.. it wasn't until i actually used reasoning as a tool that i was able to break the shackles of the watchtower bible and tract society.. for me it was the issue of jesus selecting the watchtower society as the one and only true religion in the spring of 1919.. as i began perusing though the society's older publications, i discovered that their teaching of jesus returning in 1914 was not the firm rock of a teaching that they had long claimed.
the 01/15/1993 watchtower had this to say on page 5.. "the watchtower has consistently presented evidence to honest hearted students of bible prophecy that jesus presence in heavenly kingdom power began in 1914. events since that year testify to jesus invisible presence.".

Is sex abuse in the Wt that big of a problem
by joe134cd inbefore i start, i'm not a wt apologist and i am certainly not trying to minimise sex abuse.
i was looking at the amount of sex abuse cases in light of witness population.
just say wt ended up on paying out on 30,000 individual abuse cases.

I think you miss the point. I don't think it is how many times it happens although that is a problem too, but rather how they handle it. Report it to the legal department isn't the right way to do it. Also, since they work very hard at covering it all up and have people living in fear, you can't really know the statistics. I don't defend the Catholics but at least the guys admitting some things and hopefully changing things for the better.

Watchtower Oct 15 2014
by Listener inthe october watchtower 2014 is now up on jw org.
regarding the new covenant they write.
the governing body sets the scene in the first article by stating how they are like jesus and as humans they are sinless in god's eyes.. then on page 24 they state this.

I might be reading it wrong but I think it says they already think they are God. Hasn't it always been that the GB needed to make adjustments to their beliefs based on new light. God never made the adjustments, it was the GB doing to get more in line with him. However, now the article says, 'cooperating with Jehovah in any adjustments'. So, God is now making the adjustments which are sent to them as new light or they are God and making adjustments.
I am still fairly new with all this stuff so if I am off please let me know.

My Satantic Smurf Scratch n' Sniff Stickers Story (True!)
by Phaedra inback in the early 80s when i was around 9 or 10, my slightly-older best jw friend relished telling me all the latest scare stories she heard about the satanic smurfs popping off of wallpaper, cutting babies with sharp objects, and running through kingdom hall corridors swearing.
wide-eyed with no critical thinking skills at.
i listened and believed every single word.

Good story. I wasn't a JW so smurfs weren't an issue. I watched the cartoons when I was young. I do watch my wife out of the corner of my eye though when I get the new smurf movies for the kids.

At least my wifes family has someone with an ounce of sanity. My wife just told me that her dads grandmother just moved in with them because she can't care for herself. She is not a JW and never has been. She is in need of lots of medical care and for whatever reason one thing she needs is blood. This guy moves her in and then says he won't take her to see the doctor because of this. What a great guy. His wife at least told him that it isn't her belief and drove her to her appointment.
I have never been to your website but I will check it out. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. When I first came to this site I was only interested in finding out all the 'good stuff' from the past. However, now I have expanded my searches to looking at the 'newest light'. It certainly helps when showing the flaws when they can't use the new light excuse on you.

'Search' function doesn't show thread dates in results
by yadda yadda 2 insimon, if you use the search function for a topic or word, you cannot separate out the latest threads on a particular subject from the oldest.. if i wanted to read the latest threads and discussion on the subject of, say, 'generation' i get a huge list of threads with that word in the heading or contents but i cannot tell how old each thread is unless i actually open up the thread.
i don't want to be reading threads that are 5 or 10 years old on a subject like that.. can the date of the threads be shown in search results please.
also, can a function be added to order results chronologically, from newest to oldest.

A sort by feature would be awesome. I know nothing about how websites are set up though so not sure of how difficult something like that may be. Still an awesome site without it.
