Bible: Jesus is the perfecter of our faith
Watchtower: If not endorsed by GB, your perfection amount to apostasy!
for me personally:.
watchtower - don't sin, don't question, don't think, don't reason, don't leave, or god will kill you in hell the big a.. bible - all dysfunction aka the "bad news" has been legally defeated by the "good news".. (i believe we are therefore free to begin naturally and progressively transitioning from a primitive type-0 civilisation if and when we choose to and when consensus reaches critical mass.
we will become a more advanced type-1 civilisation in the next 100 years according to michio kaku in "physics of the future".).

religions, in general, did not inspire people to be good, because the means they used was illogicality.
for example: one religion teaches: humans became sinners through one man, and would become righteous through another man.

Very nice conclusion to the subject!

LisaRose,
Yours is the best comments—that is the best approach in life and safest course in life. LisaRose, by saying this you place yourself in a best position to attract the good wherever it is available—from life, nature, and from God if there is one.

Cofty,
Look behind what stand beneath economic materialism or the fuel that economic materialism runs on, then you will find what you said and what I said are one and the same thing.

Here the word spiriual is used as opposed to materialistic, in no way connected to religious connotation. Mterialism as we find today is maximum production and maximum consumption even recklessly using credit card--with no thought for the future (of the planet, nor of the future generation).
1) john presents a jesus who is totally different from other gospels.
2) johns claim of jesus being partial to him undermines jesuss own teaching (mathew 5:44-48).
3) johns claim of first miracle (changing the water into wine) and the last (or most spectacular) miracle of resurrecting lazarus are not known to earlier gospel writers---something impossible for them to miss!.

When God inspires something to be written, he would accomplish the purpose (communication of ideas) in the most masterful way--it would not require any scholars to interpret it for the readers to understand it. Anything that requires the help of a human interpreter is not from God.--Mathew 11:29, 30

rory-ks,
Thank you for that link, very informative, and insightful.

Religions, in general, did not inspire people to be good, because the means they used was illogicality. For example: One religion teaches: ‘Humans became sinners through one man, and would become righteous through another man.’ Why and how? No answer! Another religion teaches: ‘We were in God, then we came here for purification, finally will return to God and be merged with Him.’ Why and how did the souls that were part of God require purification in the first place? No answer! [JWs that appeared on the world scene blaming all religions as being illogical themselves became more illogical than others with their teaching of SOVEREIGNTY ISSUE that reduces Almighty into a beggar—Proverbs 27:11]
If religions are not the option, then next is atheism. There are two types of atheism—materialistic and spiritual. Spiritual Atheism could help the one who practices it and those around him. For example, when you approach your CEO with a suggestion that would ultimately benefit yourself, you feel weak and do not feel good at heart. But when you approach your CEO with a suggestion that would primarily benefit the Company, you feel powerful and do feel good at heart. Hence being good to oneself and others is declared to be true worship. (James 1:27; 2:8)
This well-thought-out position seems to be the view of the greatest INTUITIVE scientist Einstein who said: “I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me that can be called religious, then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. Enough for me the mystery of the eternity of life, and the inkling of the marvelous structure of reality, together with the single-hearted endeavor to comprehend a portion, be it never so tiny, of the reason that manifests itself in nature.”

4) Jesus reserved no special privilege to Peter (Luke 12:9; Mark 8:38); yet John knows nothing about this, but goes ahead and presents Jesus as having given him the most imporatant post itself (John 21:15-17) which foreshadowed the present papal post!
5) John writes verses that have no meaning at all—1:1; 3:13; 11:26 …
6) David who was a king of LUST and who took his lust even to his death bed (1King 1:1-4) is presented in the Revelation in good light (Rev 22:16)
7) John does not even know what are the 12 tribes of Israel (Joseph and Levi were not there in the original Tribe)—Rev 7:4-8 (JWs may say it is about Spritual Tribes; yet John speaks about literal Israel in Rev 7:4. If 7:4 is about symbolic, would not 12000 x 12000 = 144000 also be symbolic?)
What a miserable condition JWs find themselves in with their major teachings like “other sheep” and “144,000” being rooted in John’s works!
