God is not an element both in religious fanaticism and atheism alike
by exWTslave inin my intimate conversations with many of my atheists friends i have found that their real problem is the human rights abuse of the religious fanaticssomething which god hates (not the lack of proof for gods existence) (means when the religions went to one extreme, their opponents go to another extremethus god is not at all an element in religious fanaticism and atheism alike) atheists shun, belittle or resist proofs for the existence of god, because they fear it will only further strengthen the religion from which the fanaticism arisethus object of atheists attack is fanaticism (not god) .
hence what atheists do is really a service to the humanity (while fanaticism is a crime against humanity).
hence when the atheists ask for proof for the existence of god, one need not take it seriously.

Your 'domineering personality' is just a reponse to this ridiculous religion - you're ok.
Let's just step back and look at this. You've celebrated Halloween and your birthday, now the elders have been told.
To any JWs lurking: can you see how ridiculous this all is?

Child sex abuse cases mentioned at weekly meeting?
by HeyThere inokay, tonight someone told me that one of the elders actually addressed the child sex abuse cases at the weeknight meeting this past week.
she said the speaker said that accusations are being made against the truth but that they should stand firm in the truth and that they are going to continue fighting these allegations and that all should stand firm for jehovah or some similar comments.... did anyone else hear this from the stage?.

@cofty
I agree with your comments but still disagree with BOTR's words - the public has never condoned paedophilic behaviour. I would have to be shown hard evidence to change that view.
'The Watchtower arrogantly thinks it is above the law' - absolutely spot on, IMO. Hopefully negative publicity, huge cash payouts and JWs discovering TTATT will have WTS in serious trouble for the foreseeable future.

'liability standards have changed since the public will no longer condone pedophiles' - surely the public has never condoned paedophilic behaviour.
The age of consent in the UK has been 16 since 1885.

Kalos - trees don't produce fruit to do good for its own sake. It may seem that way but it is actually a seed-dispersal strategy.
Other plants encase their seeds in burrs that attach to animals and are dispersed that way. Other plants employ dispersal by wind.
Lower plants such as mosses and liverworts have motile sperm! It's about methods of reproduction - the passing on of genetic material.
If you choose to see 'God' in all this, fine. But expect your opinions to be challenged on a public forum.

Kalos - I'm no expert on Kingdom: Plantae or the processes of photosynthesis.
However, I've learnt a little bit about plant tissues, organs and processes from two excellent lecturers. One specialises in the microphytobenthos of lakes and estuaries, the other in florigenic/antiflorigenic signalling in Arabidopsis.
Plants have physical and chemical defence mechanisms against grazers - clear evidence that they were not put on earth by God for 'our enjoyment'.
Also, photosynthesis is no miracle - miracles are events which do not obey scientific laws!

"Life is so hard!...tribulation and problems abound!" Persecution complex of witnesses.....
by stuckinarut2 inthe meeting this week is mind-blowing in the way it fuels the crippling "persecution complex" of witnesses!.
paragraph 1 set the theme with this gem:.
does it shock you that you can expect to face many tribulations before you gain the prize of everlasting life?

Hoser has beaten me to it and put it more succintly than I would. Excellent!

Are we approaching the Waco/Jonestown/Heaven's Gate finale?

Good OP.
I tend to agree with punkofnice. Like a nasty virus, WTS will continue to mutate and survive - all so that GB-worship and donations can continue.
Hopefully the recent and future paedo lawsuits will bleed them dry and lead to lots of JWs waking up.
