Ok designs, thank you.
So the slogan 'black lives don't matter' becomes reasonably accurate - not among cops but in da hood.
after a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.
let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .

i certainly wouldn't.
and if the elders wanted to have a meeting with me, i would respectfully decline.
if the elders wanted to deal with you, would you talk with them?.
I would never, repeat NEVER, subject myself to a JC again. They're ridiculous kangeroo courts - the JCs I read about here when lurking were far worse than mine.
I live within the law of the land and am lucky to live in a Western country. The elders, GB, WTS have no jurisdiction over me. End of.

'Since Michael Brown's death 14 teens have been killed by police officers' - very sad and these deaths should be investigated but how many black people have been killed by other black people in the same timeframe?
Anyone?

'and as if there is mental health issues involved ?'
Exactly the same - the person gets a chance to respond to police instruction. If the mentally-ill person fails to respond then they run the risk of getting shot, too.

'Is it too much to expect that police officers who are trained with using guns to use these guns in a non-lethal way like shooting at the legs or shoulders of perpetraters who they are trying to subdue . ?' - yes, it is. Pistols are difficult to aim, and limbs become a blur. Adrenaline/nerves also make things difficult. The torso is the easiest target.

@Finkelstein
I accept your correction - Wilson was of similar height but much lighter in weight than MB.
'How on earth are the police supposed to do their job if people are free to attack them?' - well said. What's a cop supposed to do if a suspect refuses orders and continues to charge?
This seems to be a case of suicide by cop.

'Wilson was also a big guy of 6' 4" over 215' - eh? I read he was 5' 7 and 170lb.

'I'm watching the news conference with al sharpTon' - people like him and Jesse Jackson seem to act like it's the 60s or 70s. They never seem to mention personal resposibility - it's always someone else's fault, the white power structure, rednecks, trigger-happy, racist cops (although I've read about black cops being just as trigger-happy), blah blah blah.
People like Al Sharpton are letting the 'black community' down - they've spent decades piggy-backing on ill-treatment of blacks plus blacks' bad behaviour.
Contrast that with Joe Frazier's advice for his son, Marvis: 'son, if a cop stops you don't fool around with your buddies. Obey the cop - put your hands in the air if he says so, get out the car if he says so. Don't try to put your hands in your pockets.' I paraphrase but you get the gist.
Why can't black thugs (and white thugs, too) be more like Joe Frazier? His no-nonsense, common sense atitude should be lauded.

'Lets say the criminal wanted to throw the molotov cocktail at the officer. Would the officer have the right to shoot him before the little bomb was thrown at him??' - if the cop (of any colour) thought himself or the public were in danger, issued intructions and the thug (of any colour) ignored those instructions then yes, absolutely, every time.
Job well done and go to the pub or bar for a stiff drink.

I agree with Mary's post - it's a terrible loss for Michael Brown's family and they deserve sympathy but if MB had shown proper respect for the law and obeyed the officer then none of this would have happened.
