The point I was trying to make was that denying people agency, personal responsibility as you and others seem to do is counter-productive and doesn't help disadvantaged black people in the long run.

Joe Frazier must also have been fearless outside the ring. As a Gullah he was no doubt the victim of white bigotry and racism but also other blacks may have viewed him as backward. Gullah people speak their own type of creole, similar to West African English (Nigerian pidgin, Camtok) and Jamaican patois. They also cling to African culture, at least until very recently - white magic, black magic, juju, etc. Muhammad Ali ruthlessly took the p1$$ out of him by calling him Uncle Tom and 'gorilla' but ironically Joe Frazier was the stereotypical black man that Ali claimed to champion.
