Sorry, Nessie's been added to the 82 version.
as part of my deconversion catharsis, i have been building a(nother) website to highlight some of the more ridiculous jw beliefs.
im a looong way from done, but i wanted some early feedback on one article: dinosaurs.

Well spotted, BloodyHotdogs.
If you look closely, inbetween the mammoth and the ark there looks like a Loch Ness monster or 'Nessie' in the 78 version. This also has been removed.
T-rex or not the whole idea of a literal, biblical flood is absolutely ridiculous - I find very difficult to believe that some people still believe in it.
BTW great website, BH!
a scandal is brewing in the uk.
for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.
it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.
Ruby - I think your interesting stat is also encouraging.
I agree in part about ethnic minorites identifying closely with Britishness - perhaps I should have stated 'recent immigrants from rural Pakistan ...' in my previous post. Older immigrants certainly identify with Britishness, as can be seen in the Indian/Pakistani community's stressing of education + good career, and also in the straight-laced, old-fashioned attitude of older generations of immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean.
My gripe lies with recent immigration policy. John Major's Tory government were quite soft and hopeless concerning immigration, from what I remember. Then New Labour really took dumb immigration policy to new levels of idiocy plus added multiculturalism into the mix - a disastrous combination.
As a result we have FGM, polygamy and heightened terrorist threats that sensible immigration and policy on culture would probably not have allowed.
You seemed you've answered your own question re what is Britishness/British culture - it's made up of Northern Irish, English, Scottish and Welsh culture.

the way I am approaching this, via putting more women in positions of responsibility and contesting patriarchy, is much more fruitful than arguing for assimilation - a rather bold prediction on your part - we'll see.
BTW assimilation into British culture would still allow for diversity. The British public are not one monolithic block - multiracialism and a wide range of viewpoints exist.

Ruby - I agree with your analysis of Pakistani culture.
But ... can't you see the link between multiculturalism and that culture? The reason British-Pakistani men have done what they've done is partly thanks to the multi-culti doctrine that states Pakistani culture is somehow equal to British culture in merit. Immigrants from rural Pakistan have not been encourarged to adopt British culture but rather have been encouraged to continue their lives and traditions as if they're still in Waziristan. For the past 15 years, anybody who had dared point that out was smeared as a racist - it's only very recently that this type of opinion is 'allowed'
i had originally thought that making the rules clear about what was and wasn't going to be allowed when discussing the michael brown verdict that we'd be able to avoid some of the unpleasantness that surrounded the subsequent trayvon martin trial discussions.. michael brown verdict discussion policy.
i had hoped that once the evidence came out there would not be as many people promoting opinions that contradicted it.
unfortunately, that appears to have been naive of me.
lisa - I see you're quick to mention ages as if this would save them from having to show any sort of responsibility, nice.
They were walking around carrying hammers - I think it's safe to assume they weren't offering to put a shelf up for anybody.

lisaBObeesa - it seems the only racist people we know for sure re. Ferguson are the group of black 'protesters' who beat a white Bosnian immigrant to death using hammers. Please see EndofMystery's thread.

Michael Brown verdict discussion policy - take II - is that take two or take eleven, Simon?

A fair question, FadeToBlack, but if by 'people investigating this' you mean the establishment - police, judges, politicians - then surely the former.
It will no doubt be ordinary people like me and you who run the risk of decapitation.
They're scared of being called 'waaaycists'

Sorry, I'll try and answer the OP in a serious, sober fashion.
According to what I've read at JWN whilst lurking the WTS believes the dinosaurs were created by God to:
1. act as kind of earth-moving equipment and fertilise the soil;
2. provide coal as fuel for humankind (even though my lead lecturer's field of study is the microphytobenthos of lakes and esturies - she maintains that what is put into cars is largely the result of dead diatoms).
The above 'reasons' seem to work with dinosaur genera such as Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops and Stegosaurus (all herbivores that no doubt produced huge amounts of faeces - cf. cows, horses, elephants) but don't take into account smaller, carnivorous genera such as Velociraptor, Coelophysis, Troodon, Ornitholestes, or the two clades of pterosaurs represented by Dimorphodon and Pteranodon.
