According to the Daily Mail, the siege has ended with one hostage and the terrorist dead.

My thoughts go to the survivors, their relatives, and the relatives of the dead hostage.

I'm glad the terrorist has been killed.

in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.

huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.

this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

The sort of rubbish and hysteria you guys are spouting is why terrorist attacks work so well in the US - I don't think anyone at JWN is hysterical over this, but if anyone were, so what? Maybe the hostages or their families are hysterical - is this OK with you?

No one knows if this guy is connected with any group or if he is a lone wolf nutter - does this even matter? He forced two hostages to hold a black flag of jihad to a window - similar to the flag of Jabhat al Nusra. He is also apparantly armed.

However I do wonder about the fact that our PM is at about the lowest level of popularity ever and the budget was released today. Coincidence? - It probably is a coincidence. If not, what are you implying?

Also, I've read recently that the allied bombing in Syria/Iraq has caused a truce and a pact between ISIS and other extremist groups, including JN.

These savage lunatics don't distinguish between soldiers and citizens. Holding Western hostages, killing Western civilians or killing Western soldiers - it's all the same to these religious headcases.

The Daily Mail reports that the Black Standard pressed against the window is the Jabhat al Nusra variant. JN are the Syrian branch of Al Qaida.

This doesn't look good. I hope all those held hostage come to no harm and are freed.

The archbishop has this the wrong way round. The terrorist attacks in Kenya by Al-Shabaab are part of a global war by an organised religion.

Obviously, this war is nothing to do with atheists.

i've never seen this discussed here, so thought i'd bring it up:.

as far as i can figure, jehovah's witnesses no longer teach that black skin is the result of a curse from god.

instead, they seem to teach that canaan was already dark skinned when his father, ham, brought the curse of servitude upon their family.

this last monday we got a letter from him telling us how unloving we are because we are no longer jw.

I'm sorry to hear of your situation, Still Totally ADD. I hope, in time, your son will become reasonable. I agree with jwfacts, your planned letter telling your son you definitely regard WTS as a cult but love him regardless shifts the focus onto him, hopefully causing him to soften his stance.
