'Privilege' ... as in
"Isn't it a wonderful privilege to clean the KH toilets and vacuum the KH carpet."
Er, yeah, whatever you say, Brother Child Porn.
what unique to jws phrases do you remember?
something fun for those of us taught to speak an entirely unique and pure language.
there have been posts in the past in this forum but perhaps some have new ones after having kept up with jehovah's chariot as the light gets brighter.

so i'll be speaking on a panel as part of the "when rights and religions collide" event next saturday, october 19. if you'd like to attend you can learn more here:https://rightsandreligions.com/.
i'm also going to host a meetup on sunday if any of you are in the nyc area.
i'm still putting the finishing touches on the details but if you'd like to join in and meet myself, my wife, and a few people that listen to the shunned podcast or that are in my facebook group called by the same name shoot me a private message soon.
Hi Dubstepped!
I hope the talk goes well.
You're an intelligent person who knows what they're talking about so it should be good.
All the best.
LUHE
the new site at www.apostat.es will provide a few free tools to help us reach out to the jehovah's witnesses we still care about.
podcasts can be hosted for free, as can blogs and articles.
you can create your own store to sell your apostate tee shirts, posters calendars etc.. it will show jw's that apostates are normal, healthy folks who simply changed their minds about their former beliefs.
Normal people don't make tee-shirts to show people how normal they are - wrong. Normal people make tee-shirts with stuff on all the god damn time. There's even a word for it - 'merch'.
Normal people don't refuse blood transfusions.
Normal people report child abuse and allegations of child abuse to the police.
admit it, we all have things that we reel off when people ask what our favourite music is, just the same as if people ask what our favourite movies are.
we're meant to say "citizen kane" and "casablanca" and not "battleship" or "pacific rim" but we know what we're going to watch if they are ever on tv at the same time (and which ones we've never actually seen).. so how about some confession time?
what do you listen to when no one else is in the house?.
@Giles Gray - yeah, I like Saviour's Day.
I like the pipes in it (whatever you call them).

Here's another blast from the past (from the 90s this time).
Me and my mates used to listen to hardcore music (happy, jungle and techno) when I was about 15, 16 and 17.
Here's a song from 1996. It mixes a happy hardcore tune with Blur's Girls and Boys.
The vid also features a couple of cute dancers.
something just struck me.. is the wts the only religion that won't kick people out for abusing children, but would kick you out for visiting a website that informs you that the wts won't kick people out for abusing children .... it really shows where their sensibilities lie.
they are more interested in acting as gatekeepers to information, especially information about them, than providing basic levels of protection to the children of their members.. maybe someone with a better turn of phrase can shorten it, it might make a good meme - something short and simple that really makes people think:.
"the wts - tougher on those who read reports of jw child abuse than on jws who conduct child abuse".
it's easy to get bogged down with life and think you're not getting ahead or progressing.
but regardless of where we think things may be going, pretty much everyone who's come through this site is an achiever who's done an amazing thing in one way or another even if they may not think about it.. so think about it!.
you got past and over your programming and indoctrination.
Yeah, you're spot on Simon.
I am, indeed, completely awesome.
I'm glad others recognise it - I thought it was just me.

Here's another guilty pleasure ...

It's gay AF but I love the bass/beat. The original video was shot in Heaven, a gay nightclub in London. I always thought the blonde haired barmaid in the vid was gorgeous, the way she shaked her hips to the beat hypnotised me (e.g. @1 min 15 secs).
And I love the little bit in the song starting @3 min 13 secs - I always thought that was great, for some reason.
I also loved the way Holly Johnson (the lead singer) played with the little tiger - that was cute.
I'm not gay, honest!!! XD

Hahahahaha!
Yes, we all have guilty pleasures, in music and film.
Here are two of my guilty pleasures in film: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 The Dream Master and Rocky IV (both aren't good films but they're fairly entertaining and I have a lot of nostalgia for them - I loved them as a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s).

Anyone remember A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 Freddy's Revenge? If you do, you know what I'm talking about XD
is it true that in 1975 the watchtower falsely predicted the end of the world and a great number of the membership quit and just a few years later they turned disassociation into disfellowshipping?
.
Wasn't 1981 when Ray Franz left - yes, I think so.
It all happened at the same time. I read about it a few years ago via Randy Watters.
A group of bethelites were dismissed (and disfellowshipped, too) because they were caught discussing the Bible on their own. This group of people questioned the WT dogma of two types of Christians. They thought that all Christians should have a heavenly hope.
Ed Dunlap is another name I remember ...
