Derek Chauvin - The Right to a Fair Trial

anyone following the derek chauvin trial?.

if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.

there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

That goes without saying after the fact - yeah, it often isn't said, lol.

As I mentioned early Floyd has to bare some responsibility for what happened to him - so, yeah, Floyd should have gotten in the cop car, even though most media didn't say this.

Bottom line: citizens - comply with the cops.

Police officers while on duty have to have the cognitive awareness to be in control of a situation - agree. Chauvin could have stopped kneeling on Floyd once Floyd was on the floor, unarmed, and cuffed. <--- But how was this murder beyond reasonable doubt? (manslaughter - yes … but murder?)

The use of deadly force by acting police officers against a individual who is suspect of a crime has to have its limits - it already does.

so, the actions of cops have come under scrutiny in recent days, what with the trial of derek chauvin and the death of daunte wright.

i certainly hope justice is served in both those cases.. what is easy for people to forget, is just what police officers have to deal with on a regular basis, during their interactions with citizens.. here's a video breaking down one such interaction.. a car owner was driving his car but the tags weren't legally displayed.

cops wanted him to pull over but the driver continued driving for a mile and a half with a police car following with sirens and lights.

A cop was called to a fight. Then a 16 year old girl got shot.

But, the 16 year old girl had pulled out a knife and was try to stab another girl in the throat. The officer saved the other girl's life.

Jacob's Ladder (1990) - ???

i saw jacob's ladder (1990) a couple of days ago and i'm not sure what to think of it.. i think i need to watch this film again.. it's certainly interesting - the plot features a vietnam vet, jacob singer, who experiences flashbacks and hallucinations.

I saw Jacob's Ladder (1990) a couple of days ago and I'm not sure what to think of it.

I think I need to watch this film again.

It's certainly interesting - the plot features a Vietnam vet, Jacob Singer, who experiences flashbacks and hallucinations. Jacob tries to discover the meaning of these phenomena during the film.

I wonder was it really necessary for Chauvin to place his knee across Floyd's neck area, I'm sure placing his knee across the top of his shoulders would have worked as well. - I think we've been through this issue earlier in the thread. Chauvin had his knee on different parts of Floyd's anatomy at different times.

And seeing how we're wondering what was necessary, I have one of my own: was it really necessary for George Floyd to resist arrest and refuse to get in the cop car?

Back to the verdict - I accept it.

If I was on the jury, knowing what I know, I probably would've acquitted Chauvin on the first two counts but found him guilty of the third charge (manslaughter) but I'm not in possession of all the facts of the case.

One thing I hope: I hope BLM and other sjw tossers don't weaponise this case to lead to police 'reform'. The police must be able to use force during their duty, including potentially lethal force.

The only lesson one can draw from this case is this: US citizens - live within the law and comply with police officers.

Whether the monk practised Buddhism or not, I don't think that is the point.

The monk clearly had some kind of religious belief. And it only seems to be religious belief that breeds this kind of lunacy.

You don't see atheists or agnostics cutting their own heads off.

The Martian (2015) - an excellent movie

i first saw the martian (2015) at the end of last year.. it is directed by ridley scott, so the cinematography is gorgeous.

i thought the plot and characters were solid, with good acting from all.

i particularly liked the banter between mark watney and his colleagues.

Do You Think White People Are Being Discriminated Against? - no, not really.

There's no wholesale systemic discrimination against whites, but there is plenty of anti-white sentiment going on in white-majority countries, often from white people.

E.g. it's ok for some twattish, (usually middle class, white) person to say that the British countryside is hideously white. If the same person said rap music was 'hideously black' then that person would be cancelled quicker than black-on-black crime, lol.

Another example: the leader of BLM's British chapter is a black female schoolteacher. She has posted on twitter about wanting white people to become black people's slaves, with little outcry. Imagine if a white person posted a message that said that black people should return to slavery, or some such sh1t. The police would be called to investigate a hate crime.

Clap for the Carers (or Don't it's Forbidden)

so, in the uk, during the early stages of covid there was a groundswell of appreciation for the nhs for their front-line sacrifice.

this was crystallised into a regular clapping/whistling/noise making session every thursday at 8pm.. "harmless" you would have thought, "a gesture of appreciation", "what could possibly be wrong with joining in on that innocent activity?".

well, the co during his recent rounds had a different view.

Outside in the real world, most UK citizens are under pressure to clap Our Amazing NHS. That's right, clap the NHS whilst people are dying of cancer, stroke, heart attacks and other diseases because everyone's focused solely on COVID.

If people wanna clap, let them clap. If they don't wanna, then don't clap. It's no biggie.
