ss this is the era that spawned “the sequel” which has essentially ruined modern movies - yes it is, and your comments are pretty much spot on.
The trend is for the first film in a franchise to be excellent, then the quality gets worse and worse the more sequels film studios crap out.
But I don't like to think that sequels ruined the original movies - however lame the ewoks are, or however silly Rocky 4 is, the original films in those two franchises are still great.
And let's not forget the first sequel in the Star Wars franchise - The Empire Strikes Back. That film was even better than the first, IMO.

A Clockwork Orange - 1971 - yeah, that film's awesome.
I guess Quadrophenia is good, too - I've never seen it, but would like to.

Well, I'm spoilt for choice for the seventies!

So many great films came out in this decade ...
The Godfather (1972)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Godfather Part 2 (1974)
Jaws (1975)
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Rocky (1976)
Taxi Driver (1976)
A New Hope (1977)
Halloween (1978)
Alien (1979)
Jaws was the first summer blockbuster, and A New Hope pushed the boundaries of special FX, most of which still hold up today, 44 years later.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is so good I saw it twice as a 12-year old, knowing that I'd wake up tired for school the next morning, lol. I didn't care.
One of my favorite films ever is Rocky - the film's a masterpiece, IMO. It's so gritty, with the main character so relatable and likeable. The supporting cast is also very good.
It comes across as real people living real lives.

He thoroughly deserves it.

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest ? - that was made in the 70s. I'll talk about 70s films in another OP.

I don't actually own many 60s films - eight, to be precise.
Psycho (1960)
Dr No (1962)
From Russia With Love (1963)
The Jungle Book (1967)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
Rosemary's Baby (1968)
Easy Rider (1969)
Er, and that's it, lol. I've seen the other 60s Bond films, plus one or two of the Herbie films, plus one or two of the Clint Eastwood 'Man With No Name' films. So, I've seen about 15 films of the 60s. Pretty pathetic, lol.
Well, I can only speak of the films I own and remember.
Easy Rider I thought was pretty good but I wouldn't call it great. I don't rate it has high as other people. I guess it's a classic because it captured America's changing of societal attitudes.
I love The Jungle Book - it's a great cartoon film. I don't particularly like Disney films, but I love this one.
2001: A Space Odyssey is good, too, although I found the ending to be a bit, er, pretentious. The film's pacing is very slow, especially compared to many of today's films, but I don't mind this. I actually like films to take their time.
Psycho and Night of the Living Dead are good horror films made on a cheap budget - particularly the latter. The black & white film actually works in these films' favour because it covers up any shortages in the special effects department.
I gotta say, I really like Rosemary's Baby - it's my particular favourite of this decade, although I haven't seen many 60s films. I don't know if Mia Farrow is a good actor, but she is very good in this as the film's lead.
It's a very good psychological horror - you don't really know if everything's real or Rosemary is imagining it.

Have you got any favourite 60s films and, more importantly, any that you'd recommend to me?

Demons. Afraid or not?
by punkofnice inwhen i was a jobot i had the fear of demons rammed down my throat.. now i am without any faith, i don't have that fear because it seems irrational.
a fairy tale from the minds of some weirdo.. now i don't have to worry about buying stuff 2nd hand.. it always amused me how some jobots would pooh pooh charity (goodwill to my american cousins), shops or 2nd hand shops in case demons inhabited a jumper or a chest of drawers.
yet at the same time they'd buy a 2nd hand car.

Demons. Fear or not? - generally speaking, not.
I'll watch all manner of films that are about demonic possession. The Exorcist (1973) and Hereditary (2018) are very good films.
But I'd never play a Ouija board or anything like that. My reasoning is that I don't know, 100% for sure, if demons exist or not. There's no evidence for their existence, I hope they don't exist, but I don't know for sure. In light of this, I think it's pretty sensible to steer clear of Ouija boards and other efforts to contact spirits.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your genitals - lol
That sounds like something Sacha Baron Cohen would say in his film The Dictator. Or maybe something Borat would say, lol.
