Something quick and simple - such as a crispy fried bacon roll (crusty bread) with brown sauce. If you don't have to be at work, why not wash it down with bottle of a beer? -

Child Abuse must be getting out of hand if they're addressing it...
by thedepressedsoul ini'm referring to the video that was uploaded where they finally mentioned the child abuse issue.
we all kinda guessed that if they ever addressed it they'd blame it on the media and apostates.
well, looks like we were spot on.

some who have been prominent in Jehovah's organization have succumbed to immoral practices, including homosexuality, wife swapping, and child molesting (WT 1/1/86 p13)
What I find disturbing about this quote is that it seems not to make a distinction between homosexuality, wife swapping (both consensual) and child molesting (non-consensual, illegal).
I also wonder whether it might be worthwhile for someone to ring Bethel HQ, quote this Watchtower, and ask if all those JWs found guilty of molesting children were reported to the police.

When I was younger, I didn't abruptly stop hanging out with 'worldly' friends - it was a gradual process from 15 to 18 years old. I got baptised a month before my 16th birthday. -

If this isn't the truth, then what is our hope?
by Gigi2121 ini'm new here but not new to researching and questioning the jw beliefs.
i have quite a story.... one that's been haunting me for awhile... but first, i'd like to hear what people have to say about this topic question, please.. -gigi.

Here are some things I try to live by:
1. try to live a 'good' life and choose 'good' people as friends.
2. find out your strengths and interests and go for it, work hard with a career in mind. There is absolutely nothing wrong with higher ed, or professional sports or [fill in blank].
3. don't worry too much about the existence of God/afterlife, etc. no one knows about this for sure.
I'll get off my soap-box now.

Why would the Society put this picture of a 'nuclear bomb' on a WT cover talking about Armageddon?
by Esse quam videri ineffects of a nuclear bomb video - .

just trying to understand their 'thinking'.

I tend to agree with Blondie.
I think it may simply be a case of the WTS trying to get as many people interested in the magazine as possible. A lot of people aren't interested in God/religion, but may be worried about nuclear war.

Do You Think President Obama Is Muslim?
by minimus ini really think that he is.
not that it's a bad thing...

@min - yes, looking back at what I wrote it does seem like a joke but I was actually being serious.
I genuinely don't think he's Muslim, and as he has a white mother and black father, I view him as mixed race.

I don't think President Obama is Muslim. I don't think he's black, either. -

By their own logic, JW's should leave Watchtower.......

having been to university and a jw..it made me think about their logic....... "jehovah's witness congregations are notorious for bad behavioralcohol abuse, immorality, cheating, domestic abuse, child abuse and the list goes on.

University and college campuses are notorious for bad behavior—drug and alcohol abuse, immorality, cheating, hazing - even if this ridiculous generalisation were true, students can choose not to do these things.

What if JWs Viewed Disfellowshipping and Excommunication as Radical Islamists Do?
by Oubliette ini found this statement from a recent article about isis to be quite interesting in view of the way that any jw can be accused of apostasy with little or no possible repercussions or consequences for the accuser: .
in islam, the practice of takfir, or excommunication, is theologically perilous.
if a man says to his brother, you are an infidel, the prophet said, then one of them is right.

I agree with violias, the WTS and islamists aren't too dissimilar on their views on apostasy. The only difference is the WTS eagerly awaits the killing of apostates by God at Armageddon.
The punishment for apostasy is death - this isn't restricted to terrorists. It has widespread support across the Muslim World.
