  back in the early 70's, the wt stated that all persons who had lived and died would be resurrected after armageddon.

  only non believers would be killed at armageddon, never to return.

  in short, if you died before the big a, you were guaranteed to return.. this gave rise amongst several ex's to concerns that their well-meaning jw parents might just consider the possibilty of having their offspring "lovingly" bumped off so as to ensure their resurrection!.

  Although some would call turning down medical treatment "radical" - in a life-or-death situation, it most certainly is.

  Shunning might be considered radical too - it goes against 'normal' human behaviour to ignore your nearest & dearest.

  i am sick of being told this same crap after decades of suffering at the hands of wicked men and women, how many of you have had to fight these irrational expectations we are supposed to grin and smile when people are actively trying to screw with us and elders say .

  good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of jehovah (lamentations 3:26; titus 2:13).

  my life in the organization has not been entirely bad, there were many good people and plenty of jerks like you all experienced in this adventure we call life.

  Others have said it but I'll say it again: if you wait on Jehovah, nothing would get done!

  Child abuse is just about the worst crime a person can commit, right up there with rape and murder. It must be dealt with by the authorities as soon as possible, and people found guilty should receive very harsh sentences - no cover ups.

  I agree with what you and EdenOne have posted - from what I remember, Russell seemed to concentrate more on the ransom, and Rutherford focused on "Jehovah" as a brand name.

  The transcript and audio of this talk were completely disgusting. The speaker, and chuckling audience, were completely delusional. The recording should be sent to law enforcement.

  There should be a wider government investigation into various cults and this recording should be used as evidence. The authorities, despite the chances of individual error, work hard to bring abusers to justice. Generally speaking, they do a good job.

  Why is it the WTS seems to have conveniently forgotten the scripture 'pay Caesar's things back to Caesar'?

  They act like this then have the nerve to attack the Catholic Church for its cover-up.

  It makes my blood boil.

  JW apologist: Anyone who knows a JW also knows that they are one of the most peaceful, neutral people you will ever meet - JWs may be mostly peaceful, but they're anything but neutral. They are eagerly hoping for God to destroy everyone who doesn't share their weird beliefs, including children.

  Tribes [and religions?] are too big to confine to homes and no court would agree with your view except in regressive regimes - but this is how the UK is becoming, i.e. a secular nation. All I have been saying is for Britain not to be ashamed of its Christian past, and keep the best bits of Christian culture.

  Given that you view this culture as a vile ideology, and that multiculturalist ideology is deeply flawed and has no democratic mandate, what culture should the UK have?

  i didn't find this particularly surprising given jw indoctrination is all about how evil the non-believers are (and how deserving they are to be destroyed during the big a) and how the wbts is absolutely right and everyone else is absolutely wrong - so it is not a big jump to islamic fanaticism.

  Good point, Frazzled.

  The only difference between the two seems to be that JWs are eagerly waiting for God to destroy the "wicked", whereas Islamists are eagerly destroying the "wicked" for God.

  I think that both groups are extremists, in their own way.
