The conversation was intense.
First I read from pages 77-79 of C of C and then spoke about the FACT that one man had been running the ORG from 1874-1976, not a GB.
That was enough for her for one day...
had a pretty deep conversation with my 'still-in' wife.. came home from some business, read some more in c.of c.. then my wife is sick and will not make the meeting tonight.... .
so we're are both home listening in to the meeting on the phone together.. it's been about a year since i've been to/listened to anything.. .
so weird.. and i'm posting here with it on in the background.. .

I don't listen.
This is a rarity.
I am being respectfully quiet while she listens.

I'm listening now.
This is crazy.
Little snippets of chaos.
It's like no one is confident in what they are saying, so they try to over explain to make it sound believable.

Little bit...
I can't believe we believed all that.
Listening to the comments during the bookstudy and hearing my old "friends" speak is a little spooky, I must admit.

Don't worry though, she only keyed in "1 listener", so I'm not actually in attenedence.
recently a jw friend that my wife & i knew 3 years ago added me on facebook, after i accepted the request she invited me to a dinner that her and her husband are holding next month.. i imagined that she was unaware of our apostasy, so i declined the invitation on the basis of not wanting to ruin her dinner after the rest of her guests fled at our presence.. i'm never sure how old friends will react when i tell them that i'm no longer a jw.. usually their response is "..... permanent-silence......".
her response went something like this, " we are all out!
everyone that is coming is out we all look forward to seeing you guys so much" it turns out that there will be 6 people at the dinner all friends of ours from a congregation that we attended a few years back.. they have all left the organization recently.. pretty crazy experience..
"It's like getting resurrected"
I agree. Great way of putting it.

Sounds very exciting.
There are many ex-JW's in my community, too.
we all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).
then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.
another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .
I was relieved of my stage duties by the overseer because my black suede dress shoes were not shiny.
It bothered me, but I ran down into the audience and traded for a shiny pair with a buddy of mine and was "good to go".
Funny thing was, the stage had a raised wall that obscured the view of anyones legs from about mid shin down from anywhere in the audience.
No one execpt those on and back stage could see my shoes. I could have been wearing bunny slippers and no one would have been the wiser.
So encouraging....
this weekend nearly everyone i have ever known or that i am related to is sitting in a convention.
i miss none of it!!!!.
i do not miss:.
I skipped the convention for the first time in 25 years this month.
So glad.
as a lot of you know, i am making a catalog of all the articles and quotes that the wt used to make the creation book.
i want to see all the quotes for myself, if possible.. i went to my university today, and i got some more books.. checkmate, wt!
i can now check every single quote, almost without regard to how obscure or rare the book is!.
Nice project. I look forward to seeing the results.
