Should I just tell my parents
by BlackWolf inlately i've been feeling just so fed up with this stupid religion i really can't take it anymore!
i'm starting to think that maybe i should just tell my parents how i really feel.
if they treat me too badly or kick me out i could probably stay with my non jw aunt.. ive just reached my breaking point, i don't really care what people think of me anymore.

You don't need to try and convince them to leave WT.
Don't feel obligated to tell them everything or anything about the ORG.
That will be decided solely by you. ( you are not baptized )It's you that is leaving. That is the message that needs to be received.
How you deliver it is yet to be seen.---
best to you

My opinion:
Speak openly and freely to your nonJW aunt and make for certain you can move right in with her if your parents eject you from the house.
When you have a plan in place spend as much time as you need to completely compose yourself in mind and on paper. Ask to sit with mom and dad. Tell them you need to speak openly, freely and without interruption, judgement or accusation. If they agree to hear you out, calmly and logically explain TTATT and why you are NOT going to get baptized or EVER become a JW in the future.
---
The Ball is now solidly in their court, isn't it?
They assured you they would not judge or accuse you. Listen to what they say. What they 'offer'. Respectfully hear them out. ( don't interrupt or feed into their emotional pleas ) This is why you must be emotionally prepared to experience the worst well ahead of time.If they respect you as their child and allow you to be yourself until you decide to leave home, all is fine.
Enjoy life!
Anything else they may do that violates you as a person, remember, you already have 'the plan' in place. Make the phone call to your aunt and pack your bags.Enjoy life!
---
I would only suggest this if you have already emotionally prepared yourself for a lifetime of shunning... They may have misplaced their own loyalty and an absence of natural family bond or love because of the cult.
Either outcome allows you to "Enjoy life".
I hoped you noticed that. It really is all up to you.Take your time if you need to.
Choose wisely. You get one shot at life.

That good old JW rumour mill
by punkofnice inbecause i simply decided the watchtower corporation wasn't the truth(tm) i was da'd in a secret jc that i didn't attend.
i was writing songs with a friend that day instead.. jws wasted no time in labelling me as an evil villain.
the rumours abounded.. i was labelled as 'a false prophet'.

People who smiled one day, ignore the next.
This is a huge point. I thought they were my friends of 20 plus years.

"Confidentiality" of Elders!
by stuckinarut2 insomething struck me the other day.. elders are told to maintain confidentiality with regard to the details of judicial cases or congregation "discipline" in an attempt to dignify individuals etc.. this is even the case for known child abusers!.
yet, if they suspect someone of being an "apostate", for instance being a member on this forum, they will spread such information far and wide, through the witness "grape vine" to congregations miles away (or even in other countries).
so, does that mean they place more importance on "apostasy" rather than child abuse?.

Th elders are not shepherds. They are self-important, self-appointed cowards that thrive on what little imagined power they think they possess.
---
I'm looking forward to a face to face meeting between them in the community. They think they are frightened now...

My situation is similar, Punk.
I was also DF'd after skipping their secret judoucheal meeting.
I got the better of all them on the gossip front.
Right after they sent the invitation ( in Comic Sans font ) accusing me of 'admitted apostasy', I e-mailed the letter to all the gossip mongers in my home town of Napa, Ca. Kinda spoiled the party, when I made the announcement myself well ahead of them.
Now, I'm the scariest thing ever.
---
From a survivors point of view, as soon as you learn TTATT, exit the JWs. Reclaim what life you have as your own.
---
The night they announced me, I was busy at a music rehearsal, as I have become a professional since my awakening!

Amazing quotes.
I never trusted the elders nor would I ever dream of telling them anything.
--
I'm sure we can all think of examples where the private matters of others 'somehow' became common knowledge.
There's the life of the captive JW in a nut shell:
Living in fear of destruction by displeasing god or questioning his 'earthly representatives' that nobody really trusts! Wow!'Nu Lite' really means, "you shouldn't have trusted us".

Fact : 1 We live in the 21st Century Fact : 2 Why do we tolerate Religions of yesteryear that dominate ,interfere with our progress
by smiddy inwhy in this 21st century are we still cow towing to religions that are based in the distant past, of thousands of years ago , whether it be christian islam or whatever.?
and not to restrict it to just those two , but all ancient religions.. all of them are hypocritical , on the one hand rejecting modern day society and it`s technology and on the other hand embracing it for their own advantage .. when is the human race ever going to rid itself of pie in the sky beliefs.?.
smiddy.

For those of us with loved ones under WT's spell, this helps us understand the mental manipulation they are experiencing weekly.
Having the videos ahead of time is helpful.
Make a comment with the video in mind, they scoff followed by raging cognitive dissonance when they see the video at a meeting.---
The 'bunker videos' come to mind.
