Okay, so this internet password thing is a big controlling measure.
On the surface it seems a bit strange but understandable.
But then...
I started to think even more about this last night.
I think IMHO that they are cracking down on apostates using the KH wi fi.
and also to check up on other sites that are being visited while at the hall.
I know it sounds far fetched but hey, there are lots of 'still in' awake members of this site, they state that they surf on here and other apostate sites while at the hall.
If everyone has an individual password can they track and see which sites are being visited by looking at the internet logs ?
Im not a tech expert but I am sure this can be done.
How will they know if a JW has accessed "bad" websites, because no one will confess this, will they be tracking everyone ? I don't know.
I don't think that a JW would access porn at the hall, like the letter suggests (maybe some crazy ones would) but apostate sites, yes for sure.
Cant they just allow access to JW.org and nothing else - maybe put a parent filter on or something, Im not an expert but maybe they could do that.
The thing is this...
They don't want to mention apostate sites in their letter because then the rumour mill starts, elders wives gossip together and it gets around as to why there are passwords needed.
Then any awake ones will be forewarned. Maybe they just want to catch us out.
It seems like this is their way of tracking everyone.
--------------
The letter says that, If you break the rules then they will take away your password.
Now to me this means that the passwords must be all individual ones.
It makes sense as otherwise they would have to change everyones password when someone 'sins'.
Everyone in the hall will know that someone has been a naughty boy !!
It also means we cant share our password with others, but how will they enforce this ?
They must have it set up so that each member of the hall can only access the internet using their password at one time.
If we are at the hall and our spouse or someone sitting near us notices we cant access the internet using our ipad etc, then they will know we have committed a sin.
We cant ask for their password, then they will definitely know.
If the password is the same for everyone who going to stop us sharing it ?
This is total control.
Im sure we would tell our spouse if we messed up but hey, what about our own personal privacy.
Maybe I am way off here, but I smell something and I think that they are cracking down.
On the surface it seems weird but understandable but now I feel this is even more controlling than before.
Also if they see our password used to access the net, to visit apostate sites then they have all the evidence they need.
WGO.
