If you could see the future would you use it?
by purrpurr inif you had the ability to know what the future held would you use this ability?.
jws say that jehovah can see the future but he just choses not to.
which never made sense to me, as if he did use that ability then a lot of the stuff that went wrong could have been avoided.. it never made sense.

It never made sense. If I made a new life form and I could see their future then I'd want to use that to make sure they would be ok.
What do you think?

Was it just me or was something different about the memorial last night?
by kpop inthis was the first memorial that i declined to do any work for the memorial.
i was assigned as a parking attendant after getting downgraded from doing the sound and had no intention of doing either task but i had to attend for my family and continuation of my fade.
i sat there last night listening to the talk and couldn't help but shake my head as my brain attempted to process the bs.

I wonder what would happen if someone took the wine when it's passed around and then just downed the whole glass in one?

The Russian letters
by purrpurr inso all the jw's i know are practically wetting their pants in excitement over the russian letters they are sending out.
they seem to have this insane idea that putin's office will be pulled sky high with all these letters and they have this image in their imaginations of him having to open and read every letter (!).
also all the jw's i know have all put their name and address on the letter... which couldn't have any repercussions of course (!

They seem to have this insane idea that Putin's office will be pulled sky high with all these letters and they have this image in their imaginations of him having to open and read every letter (!)
Also all the jw's I know have all put their name and address on the letter... Which couldn't have any repercussions of course (!) I mean have they thought about this? They are sending their personal details to a government who hates jws! Insane!
Well I was sent on the errand of sending my families letters, I posted them alright! .... IN THE BIN! Putin is not getting my families details for a database!
Oh, and lastly the jws are also saying that this type of campaign has worked in the past, like in Malawi!

Stranger asks about your kids mental wellness. ..
by purrpurr inlast night at the meeting there was a suggested presentation about the new mags, which cover the issue of depression in minors.
the jw jumps straight from "hi how are ya" to "how is your kids mental well-being " and of course the hh is more than happy to discuss the inner workings of their child's mind with a stranger whose just knockedmon their door(!).
if it was me i'd be majorly creeper out!.

I mean just how likely is this? If it was me I'd be majorly creeper out!
And then also in another presentation the brother asks the HH "do you text?" Which apparently is a really good trick to get someone's number, and of course the HH happily shares it.
So detached from reality

Leaving the jws is a "lifestyle choice" according to a counsellor
by purrpurr inso i had my first appointment with a counsellor, of course i explained about being a born in jw, mentally leaving, the penalty of doing so and therefore the mental strain of pretending to be someone i'm not.
her response was that she couldn't help me with that because leaving a cult was a "lifestyle choice".
i tried to say to her that its a cult not a religion and how it brain washed me but no.

I am moving on to another counsellor, but the nhs has long long waiting lists, by the time you actually get an appointment quite frankly you are just grateful to be seeing anyone at all.
And no I can't afford to go private

A jw thought trap
by purrpurr ini've been watching louis therouxs documentary about scientology.
one of the thought traps they createn in people is that they make them belive that all good things come from following the doctrines correctly and all bad things come from not doing so.
and in this way it becomes a thought trap where the person is self regulated mentally by trying ever harder to be more indoctrinated.

And I thought about the jw doctrine of all good things come from Jehovah and all bad things are persecution from the devil. It's exactly the same thought trap. If something's gone wrong, well maybe Satan went after you because you missed some meetings? And if you get a pay rise well it's Jehovah blessing you because of how well you're doing spiritually.

I don't feel like leaving was a lifestyle choice, it was an awakening to a reality that had been hidden from me and now I'm having to sit on the fence of both worlds
Do you think it's a lifestyle choice?

by WTS Archive intl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.
please contact me directly for details on when and where the court case will be held (i will know these details in few days probably).

I hate to sound paranoid but have a think about this... what if you were an enterprising elder who wanted to flush out the local apostates? Telling them when and where to turn up to support one of their own might be a very good idea! Then you just stand in the shadows with a discrete camera and see if you recognise anyone...
As I say I could be being paranoid and I'm perfectly willing to revise my thoughts on this if presented with some proof
