JW stopped me in the street.....
by Phizzy inhe pulled up in his car beside me and asked for directions, then he recognized me, we used to be in the same congo.. the usual pleasantries, i gave him directions, and then "when are you going to come back then" he asks.. "never" i say, "well, it has all changed" he says, " it's not like it used to be" i detect a tone of regret.. "but you know there is nowhere else to go" he boldly proclaims.. "yes there is !
" say i, "there is somewhere where you can find truth, and truth is supported by facts and evidence ".
he had to drive off then as he was blocking a narrow street, i did not get time to say " go to jw facts.com", i will tell him next time..

I did notice there was a big point made about parents not letting their kids get baptized as a protection! Ha! The parents are getting wise! The gb have shot themselves in the foot by asking parents to shun their kids!

Withdrawing community support in the congs
by purrpurr ini've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.
counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.
if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

Things could be so much different in the cong if they would only allow women to be elders too... but of course that will never happen!

Ps. Steve2 that poor woman! And those sisters who went tattling to the elders about possible wrong doing are sick, and the fact that their minds jumped straight there says far more about them than it does that poor sister.
I hope it started the wheels in her head turning

Yes I agree, but it doesn't take much to reduce a zealous jw to a lukewarm one... changed of personal circumstances, unkindness from other jws and boom. Suddenly the former zealous one realises how people get treated when they're not in vogue. From there it's a slippery slope.
I really think the gb are so terrified of apostates that they are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to how they treat the flock

Maybe the gb expect the r&f to be robots now? But the thing is, humans need a community and support. And if they don't get that in the cong.... then the r&f will start to go elsewhere for their emotional needs

They used to be able to claim that the congregation was like a warm loving family. But that's so not the case now, so where's their usp? Where's the attraction for joining? Very very very few people are sitting at home wishing they knew their bible better (!) And I reckon none are sitting at home wishing they had to go out early on their day off, in a cold winter morning to knock on their neighbours doors and try to tell them stuff they don't want to hear.
