hmmm....I didn't see the goathead. I DID see Kim Kardashians huge bottom. (it really IS everywhere) I saw a bowling pin, a weird spider, the letter "D" (for "Devil" probably, or maybe "Dumb") a piece of toast without any Jesus or Mary on it, the Mormon Tabenacle Choir, and a red skittle.

Religious nuttery alerts
by Simon init seems like every couple of months i notice we've acquired a new religious nut and they have been posting away, annoying everyone and filling the forum with crap.
it's disheartening to see people (even moderators!
) have been having conversations with them and there are pages and pages of insults and crap - we're going to try and avoid this in future.

My father was from Texas and we got the belt if we misbehaved. Sometimes Mother spanked us, but, most of the time she said "Wait til your father gets home." Made him real popular! HAHA...
Actually, we kids didn't think anything of it. It wasn't a "beating" - maybe we got two swats, 3 at the most. That's it. Even so, it was a very unpleasant experience, we definitely didn't like it...but, it was effective, and rarely needed to be repeated! Pretty soon, all Dad had to do was look at you with that "look" and you STOPPED whatever it was that you were doing!!
We all loved our father dearly and had tremendous respect for him. We were VERY well mannered, respectful, and didn't become serial killers or violent criminals! I really believe it was "customary" for that generation, and became less and less popular for the generations coming afterwards.
When I had my own children, I never used a belt, but, I DID spank my first child...he had temper tantrums, the second child- NEVER needed spanking, he was just a good kid, and my girl? Forget it. You could beat her all day and it wouldn't do a bit of good. I learned spanking was NOT very productive, and I figured out other ways of "teaching." My children turned out to be kind, decent, law abiding people...so far anyway....

by disposable hero of hypocrisy ini'm just bored.
i'm currently (right now) running a mic up and down the aisles, recognising the faulty logic, one line platitudes, and indoctrination techniques.

Is there a list of JW contradictions / double standards anywhere?
by BenRichards inas i mentioned in a recent thread, i've relatively new here.
have been lurking for a few weeks and just started posting.. one of the things i'm finding interesting about this site is how often someone posts a set of jw published material that contradicts each other.
for example the other day someone posted about lecithin.

OMG...LECITHIN! I remember back in the 60's, I was just a kid... My friend (also a JW) and I were eating cheese popcorn and both of us became very distraught after finding out that it had lecithin in it!! We were just kids! But, we were happily eating away, when, for some reason, we looked at the ingredients and discovered the lecithin. Guilt immediately set in, and we threw the remaining popcorn away. We felt so ashamed for enjoying the popcorn. We did NOT tell our parents, but, I prayed for forgiveness. I did that a LOT as a child. I was always doing something horribly wrong...like eating cheese popcorn!
