Oubliette: I noted that you have to work on Emotional Intelligence,.. to attack people about their intelligence, and lack of language is not very clever.

But that's unfortunately the behaviour of some ex-Cult members: an arrogance, a Mr or Ms knows it all attitude..and in a very defensive modus...and try to shoot down every other opinion an other person can have.. if you will change your tone, and attitude I will give an answer to your question( but if you are reading my post to London111, you will find your answer) Reason? I refute to going in debate with a person who's only goal is to demonstrate their superiority, and not willing to make a rational analysis based on scientific evidence.. It's a waste of Time...

of course there are good points in this model, but the fact that he in his last book has greatly expanded his BITE model,, and could be applied to a very array of groups brings an important question: Where are the facts, and psychological resarch, and the Scientific Studies to prove these theories? When reading his book, I have not found any references.. In other books Ive read facts and Scientific research and references are always being presented..

thus for me that has study psychology, Came to the conclusion that it is a philosophic construct, theories many borrowed from others, for some people it could be effective, but not grounded on facts or scientific evidence.. But that is my opinion Kate..

Hey London 111 : an interesting comment on your side..

despite the fact that reading a book of a cult expert has opened the eyes of a lot of members of a Cult , when you go to a court, and are claiming Psychologic damage from a Cult, I can say to you that a court need to found strong evidences, to prove your claim.. that's the most difficult part to accomplish with.. Why? Because the law distinguishes between religious belifs which is absolutely protected, and Religiously motivated conduct which is not.

thus so far I know religious beliefs are protected by the First Ammendement.. free exercise of Religion, and beliefs. And therefore fighting beliefs is a battle you will win on internet (the challenge of John Cedars)' but I can guarantee not in a Court Case...

About psychological, and economic damage there can be accounted a certain accountabillity on Cults, and in certain Court cases they had to pay a financial damage to ex- Cult members.. And this is an aerea where courts are following recognized Court Cult Experts these days,, what is a good thing...

but to prove that a group uses destructive persuasion to diminish the psychic autonomy of their members, it's the difficult part to accomplish..

Hello to everybody,

To London 111: My purpose to join these site is not to discredit others but to encourage members to use their critical thinking, when they analyze the methods being promoted by recognized Coult- expert. Is this wrong? I don't thinks so.. But I think that you have a problem to accept criticism. I suggest you to work on it..And yes if Steven Hassan is your savior, with his methods, and others on this site I have no problem with it. But from my part i accept only cult-experts recognized by a court. and by the way the question to reccomend a book was not you. i will give that answer at the person in question..

oubliette: where is the answer to my question: Is Steve Hassan a recognized Court Cult expert?

Oubliette: thank you for your remarks on the credentials of Steven Hassan..

But can you prove that Steve hassan passed a witnesses expert examination? This a a requirement to work in a legal system, and if you passed this examination you are a recognized on evidence based Court expert... Did he ever did such an examination? So far as I remember he failed..

And arent the credentials you mention of steven Hassan coming from Free mind.Com? And from his blog and Website?

there are a lot of good books about Cults. If you go to Cult news.com, then you can see above a link to books.. Click there and you will find a lot of books..

I can reccomend you this site, because you can have a lot of different views that can help you in your search , and in helping others in leaving destructive cults... a personally reccommend this site because it is supervised by balanced and recognised Cult experts, that have also direct experience living with high control groups as well, and have effective results...But It's your choice to look if you like to read these books..

Good morning to everybody..

to Londo 111: I was expecting that you would be take the defence of Steve Hassan, and attacking me,.on my spelling ..

that's the the strategies and a behaviour ex-cult members use to avoid hard criticism.. Attacking without facts based on psychological, and Scientific research..

that's the same behaviour, I experienced with John Cedars.. He banned and blocked me to making comments on JW survey , because of my

hard criticism.. based on facts ...

But its his website, and he has the right to do this, but this demonstrates that ex-cult members are practising what they are preaching: Information control...and such a hypocritical behaviour is a big problem to take in consideration...

As for the the testimonials about reading Steve's book, and that his theories helped a lot of you.. good for you..and thanks for sharing..

However, if you have a look around you, you can find similar testimonials for Scientology, and all kind of bogus therapies..

All of these have true believers who will offer testimonials that the approach saved their lives and they believed in it...

Thus , I would reccomend to read other books on this issue, so you can be open for other opinions too.. And not only believe those who need a

PR agent those days,( Cedars is a fine example in promoting Steve theories with his videos on You Tube) because it could be also a marketing strategy ...

One of the most important Lesson I have learned in my trainig, is that experience is open to interpretation, and if we read a narrative it is easy to make

it fit our experiences, but that doesn't make it valid..

the main issue is: have you examined on a critical way the BITE model, and the theories promoted by Steven Hassan?

you say that they works.. Can you have one example of a Court where recognised experts are using his BITE model?

Have you asked yourself, why recognised court-cult experts don't use the BITE model promoted by Hassan?

is he a recognized Court expert these days? I don't thinks so..

Do you have statistics that can prove your statement?

Dr Cathleen Mann, a COURT RECOGNIZED expert in the area of cults has written in 2012, an interesting critical review of Steven Hassan's book..

She summarize the major problems with Hassan's unsupported theories, and claims, while being UNCRITICALLY accepted by a certain segment of

ex- cult members..

Pseodoscience and unssuported claims, within the anty-cult Community that tend to pathologize anyone who has been in a cult group as well as the

problem with bracket creep in models of so called cults is an area that has received far too little attention in my opinion..

PS: iWhen I have Time I will demonstrate by a new topic, why the BITE model presented by Steven Hassan is so controversial...
