I prefer to think of the last convention I went to. I showed up two hours late each day, left early Saturday (and watch the hilarously sacreligious "Dogma" that night), and spent most of the talks writing in my notebook and ended telling an elder off.

Dipping a foot in the pool. It was nervous, cold at first, but then I got used to it.
And once in, I ignored all those people who warned me of drowning or cramping up.

How many here have worked in social work, etc. & DON'T think MJ was a molester?

I am/was a schoolteacher. I really, really wouldn't know unless I got a better look/listen to the kids. But the fact that there was blackmail before the fact raises doubts.
Of course, this is Michael Jackson. If he actually did share a bed with a flock of boys and there was nothing sexual about it, I would hardly be surprised. I wouldn't have been surprised if Jackson was breeding unicorns.

Jehovah's Witnesses & their cynical lust for negativity
by jambon1 infor me this is one of the most hideous things about the jw's.. it's like they are willing on the next world disaster.
they are gleeful if anyone that they know comes into some sort of trouble if they are not following 'bible standards'.
they simply aren't interested in anything good.

That's common with apocalyptic groups...When you focus on the end of everything, then every horrible event points to or prepares you for that end.
Depressions, Disasters, Starvations, War...It all is evidence that you're about to go someplace better, and is greeted with excitment from the recognition of that. It's incredibly selfish, puting the happiness of yourself over the basic welfare of everyone else.

Most Detested WT Publication
by Nosferatu inwhat is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).
mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.
my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.

The "Great Teacher" is a good entry, but the Rev book takes the gold. I remember studying it five times in book study.
Oh, and to start another rant, I didn't repeat a single class of any kind in school, high school or college. How come I had to restudy 6th-grade level commentaries several times? Did anyone not get the point the first few readings?

most rude behaviour experienced from elders...
by Albert Einstein inwhat was the weirdest and most rude thing you experienced / witnessed from elders?.
my favourite one is called george.
he was a po in the cong, where i became an elder (i was young and absolutely unexperienced).

I had been pioneering for a year, and had a car group with a youngish elder and the Curcuit Overseer...
CO: "You have a lot of pioneers in this congregation, Brother Kissup"
BK: "They do well. They have a lot of hours, placements and visits. Brother Badger, though, just has hours..."
Same elder's dad (also an elder) refused to tip, and told the waitress so, and got upset if anyone at the table did ("They already get paid"). Many of us got good at sneaking a tip in.

A "My Book of Bible Stories" tale that I've always hated
by JimmyPage ini've always hated story #53: "jepthah's promise".
i always felt sorry for the daughter who had to spend the rest of her days at the tabernacle because her father made a numb-nuts promise to god.
who did he think he was, making promises for other people?

Abraham and Issac. Abe loved God so much he was ready to off his kid. And I knew, as my Dad read to me, that it was the same situation in that house.
