how do i feel about this?.

too much doubt.. shame on you people who are responsible for putting richard to death.. richard is scheduled to be put to death in oklahoma at 3pm on september 16th by lethal injection.

i have followed this case and feel like so many people very bad about this.

This case has really been a stark and disturbing eye-opener for me. All through my life I have been led to believe that everyone in our western democracy is “innocent until proven guilty.” But in just the last couple of years, hearing about people having all their cash stolen by the police – which is apparently perfectly legal now – just on the suspicion that it might, or could, be involved in some kind of criminal activity, but with absolutely no proof; and hearing about people getting their legitimate businesses shut down and accounts seized just because their deposits are suspiciously just under the $10,000 amount for mandatory reporting by the bank – again, with no proof whatsoever; and then hearing about cases like Richard Glossip, it seems to me that the “presumption of innocence” which has been so integral to our so-called democratic legal system is now just regarded as hooey and thrown right out the window.

What is happening to good old common-sense fairness and justice based on traditional “natural law”? It seems that now we basically don’t really have any rights at all anymore. The government doesn’t care anymore about justice and fairness – everything now is just all more and more arbitrary bureaucratic rules and restrictions, which much of the time don’t even make sense! Disturbing and scary!

hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.

i am not negative towards the wt at all.

so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

It appears that there are certainly a lot of JWS who are born in, wake up, but are still stuck in, just going through the motions to appease family and friends because they know that their family and friends would be lost to them if they ever dared to be true to themselves and venture to leave the WT regime. That kind of blackmail is evil, and it sucks, but unfortunately it works, and the WT knows they can get away with it. (Well, so far, anyway.)

The number of “generations” and how long they can be, at least according to the GB, will always make it such that their little numbers game will keep going on in perpetuity, or at least as long as there will continue to be “sheep,” at least in the poor third-world counties, who would be willing to lap up this overlapping generational nonsense. Let’s just hope that the efforts of worldly agencies to provide Internet access to all those folks in rural Africa continue. We need everybody to see factual and eye-opening Web sites like this one – which should put a stop to the influx of poor and ignorant “sheep” into the WTS’ greedy clutches.

Also, the FACT is that there are many people who still beat their wives, rape children, and drive drunk. . . . But, of course, that doesn’t make any of that RIGHT or ACCEPTABLE either.

No, Dr. Phil chose to highlight this case because it is compelling as an important sociological, legal justice, and human rights/fairness issue which potentially impacts all of us. While it is true that Dr. Phil is a well-known and well-paid television host, he is surely not desperately dependent on this particular case for his own glory or financial status. He could very well have opened his season with a show about transgendered celebrities or hunting Sasquatch and get paid just the same. Dr. Phil is a very intelligent and discerning man, and he has a heart!

I must say that I am perturbed and rather disgusted at some of the callous and self-righteous comments of some who obviously haven’t taken the time to consider the facts behind this disturbing case – and also don’t seem to have the human compassion to care. Well, I did review some of the news articles about it, and, believe it or not, it bothered me so much that I actually printed a letter to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and had it sent by courier from here in Ontario, Canada. And, of course, I also signed the petitions on “Change.org” and “MoveOn.org,” even paying to have the petition promoted to others.

And don’t forget that technically this situation could happen to anyone else – perhaps one of your loved ones . . . . or even you. This is not just some meaningless item in the news. Things like this impact on the legal rights and security of everyone, and as such it behooves from us the seriousness and sober reflection it deserves.

Thank God, however, that this poor man, Richard Glossip, has at least been granted another reprieve so that hopefully true justice can prevail – especially in light of new evidence, “including a fellow inmate’s claim that he overheard another man convicted in the case admit he acted alone. . . . a signed affidavit from another inmate, Michael Scott, who claims he heard Sneed say ‘he set Richard Glossip up, and that Richard Glossip didn’t do anything’” – and not to mention all the improper handling of this case and inconsistencies, including the fact that the apparent real murderer, Justin Sneed, told eight different versions of his story, which just do not add up!

Yes, thank God that enough people are seeing to it that the wheels of justice continue to turn, even if ever slowly, toward the interest of basic fairness. Let’s hope and pray that an innocent man will finally be granted the rightful vindication and freedom which has been so long in coming. After all, fair is fair!

well it seems for many on this board the time came to leave the w.t and cross the bridge in to a real world.

speaking for myself l feel i did not enter the cold and lonely world i was lead to believe i was entering.

rather i have discovered it was no great loss leaving a world that had protected me with false, dreams, fantazy and false promises.. but what have i really achieved by my leaving that i value?.

The foremost good, I think, of leaving the WT religion is simply being true to oneself. It has to do with personal integrity, as opposed to letting oneself be sold on self-deception.

As the famous expression goes, “To thine own self be true.”

I guess the WTS uses those fancy hi-tech glasses with “Transition Lenses” which automatically adjust to the dark and light. Although, if you ask me, I think the GB all spiritually need a trip to the optician for some thick, thick lenses at the outer range of prescription eyewear.

Simon: “As long as religious leaders can point out that other countries have more of what the people need to sustain life they will be able to manipulate their politicians and radicalize individuals to fight and bomb and attack the west. It is in our interest to make sure all our neighbours have enough to sustain life, only then will we be safe.”

As is true of the skirmish-prone middle-Eastern countries, as well as tribal-warfare-plagued countries such as the Sudan in Africa, things would be so much better for them if they would just stop with all this ridiculousl fighting.

Now, I know that sounds extremely simplistic and perhaps somewhat infantile, but when you think of it, it is physically within the power of such countries to make things so much better for their own citizens. But, of course, the seemingly core defects of human character expressed in such banal warfare – i.e., pride, greed, fear – have a continually ever-present ascendancy in human relations.

However, when all is said and done, all these refugee crisis situations – as well as the famine situations – are really all preventable occurrences – just like, say, lung cancer from smoking or traffic deaths from drunk driving or heart failure from extreme obesity are all . . . well . . . preventable occurrences. My point is that if all this totally illogical and self-defeatist behaviour was removed from the picture in these hot-spot countries – namely Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Yemen, etc. – then they themselves could focus on having enough to sustain life, and subsequently would not be in need of accommodation for their current refugee crises.

If I were to approach someone on the street asking for some change to buy a bowl of soup for lunch and I was acutely reeking of alcohol, then that person could rightly note that were I to properly deal with my alcoholism, then I wouldn’t need to be requesting the change required to eat in the very first place!

So, if the so-called leaders of these countries would simply do their jobs and work in the best interests of their own citizens – including the fostering of economic prosperity (which, remember, is physically within their locus of control) – then, technically speaking, the number of refugees would amount to a big, fat ZERO.
