  i was reading something else on jwn and remembered why i started questioning wts definite statements of fact.. i was asked by a non-jw to prove these 2 points from the scripture:.

  “Acluetofindtheuser”: “The problem is they have to have an answer for everything. Why can't they just say, we don't know?”

  Well, the WTS can just say whatever idea they want for that day and claim that they are “divinely inspired.” And then, when they have to change (“update”) it, they can still claim to be inspired because “the light keeps on getting brighter . . . .” (yada, yada, yada).

  So they’re evidently™ always inspired – at the time they say it, that is.

  The Invitation Movie made me think about the JW's

  there is something to be taken from this movie and how dangerous cults are.

  i know this is hollywood but it really speaks to mind control and it's power.

  In the WTS, the doors may not be locked and the windows may not be barred – physically – but that certainly is the case mentally and emotionally in that it wields considerable power through manipulation by undue influence to hold people as prisoners. You’re free to leave – they’ll just hold all your family hostage as a blackmail bargaining tool.

  And as for the “bottle of phenobarbital” found in the bedroom in the above clip from The Invitation, that would be the dangerous and debilitating state of mental slumber evoked by the WTS when you surrender your innate critical thinking skills.

  Astonishing, isn’t it, how parents can actually be conned and manipulated into, in effect, murdering their own biological children by kowtowing to the not-so-subtle demands of the WTS to uphold its ridiculous and deadly blood transfusion policy. Shameful!

  When You Would Hear A Talk About Committing “Secret Sins” How Did You React?

  it seemed as if every year a talk would be given in the congregation or at a convention about “secret sins”.

  very predictably, witnesses would have pangs of conscience and confess their secret sin.. back in the 70s, one sister with an unbelieving mate went to the elders to confess about husband and her engaging in oral sex.

  she was privately reproved for her “sin” and every so often would approach the elders to say she slipped up again.. i know i’d never tell anybody about my sex life just because of misguided guilt.

  Boy, Minimus, I can sure relate to your thread! My dad used to scare me about sinning against the holy spirit (thus my username on this Website, “SAHS”: Sinned Against the Holy Spirit) – which made me feel profoundly worthless and effectively made me actually think that I was on “death row” awaiting my eventual yet inevitable and apparently terrifying execution at Armageddon. During that crucial time of puberty, during which I experienced some rather “unnatural” sexual fantasies, I developed an extremely morbid sense of foreboding regarding what I then perceived to be my imminent and ultimate end.

  it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.

  Well, it’s already been established that traditionally the lower latitudes have been associated with decreased cognitive ability and motivation (along with increased fighting over resources and ideologies – thus the ideometric term synonymous with southernmost populations: “hot-blooded”).

  Actually, I’m 52 years old now, and I know only too well the profound fear about dying at Armageddon. My dad used to scare me about the ‘sin against the holy spirit.’ I was convinced at the time of my own inescapable Divine demise. But now I know the truth about the truth (TTATT). Thank goodness for sites like this which help us all to learn about ourselves.

  Library now cleared out

  well, it looks like the axe has finally fallen on our kh library.

  during a deep clean of the local kh, a brother suddenly informed everyone 'whikst cleaning' that all the old books including bound volumes of the watchtower etc was to be chucked in the skip.. from what i heard, some were taken aback by this and quite annoyed that no announcement was made; that no one was given the choice of taking some of these books home to keep.

  i mean the entire collection of studies in the scriptures and others that go back an entire century.

  I remember an article in the Watchtower of August 1, 1995, page 20, entitled “Our Rich Spiritual Heritage.” And I’m fairly sure that there was also a talk by that title at an older district convention or circuit assembly about ‘appreciating our rich spiritual heritage.’

  So the Watch Tower organization wants us to ‘appreciate our “rich” spiritual heritage,’ but they don’t want us to be able to know exactly what that heritage actually is.

  Armageddon has started in Astoria, Queens

  now we know that the con ed plant in astoria, queens had an explosion, but before anyone knew what the heck was going on, so many people were posting on social media their pictures of the "strange blue circle light" that was in the sky this evening,usually st. johns which is near me has a fireworks display after a game, i thought this doesn't look like fireworks, much brighter and no sound, it actually looked like it was 4pm in the afternoon right before the sun leaves the sky.. i live in the jamaica section of queens (just up from trump's foot dr. if you saw that article in nytimes.

  com the other day) and haven't lost power but laguardia is dark now, no flights in are out.

  just wondering how the old school dubs that saw the lights outside window, thought "finally, the big a is here" !.

  Definition Of A Friend JW.Org Style True Story

  thought i saw everything with publishers giving money to co's or leaving everything to the org through their wills which is their business.however when a brother(andre) whose job is to sign cheques going out from the georgetown, ontario bethel is signing cheques for relatives isn't that a conflict of interest?

  the one nephew was doing woodworking but was never successful until bethel offered him a job doing signs for halls as well as making cabinets and podiums.

  once he got the job he then went out and bought a cnc machine which is computerized.

  The Bethel would do deals with the Devil himself if they thought they could benefit from it.

  But as for the conflict of interest issue, I don’t think it would result in legal problems unless they were getting some benefit or kickback to which they would’t be allowed, such as dealing with close relatives to secure building permits or bogus property inspects as a special “favor.” (Kind of like Donald Trump’s foundations and organizations receiving benefit through his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.)
