@“jws”:
Excellent post! You really put things in perspective with regard to the whole idea of the fairness and logic of an “almighty” deity and his dealings with humanity right from the get-go.
i have an old friend who grew up jw in my original congregation and is now on his latest wife.
unlike the somewhat religious ambivalence of his previous wives, this one he says is right on par with his religious view.
which is very conservative christian.lately, his wife posted on facebook about the horrible things in the world and the roll media takes in desensitizing us.

has anyone ever shown a jw that came to your door the bite model of a cult?
what happened?
i am thinking of using that strategy if one comes a' knocking..
The least likely people to believe they are in a cult are, well – those in a cult!
(Tell a fish that they’re swimming in water, and they’ll say, with a most confused stance: What are you talking about?)
"an arrogant person considers himself perfect.
this is the chief harm of arrogance.
it interferes with a person's main task in life - becoming a better person.
Arrogance. Anthony Morris III. Hmmm.
Although, the ultimate arrogance award must go to: Joseph Franklin Rutherford. Followed by Fred Franz and Nathan Knorr.
All those folks could have taught a stellar course in arrogance to the first-century Pharisees, even including Saul of Tarsus, aka the apostle Paul.
And insisting on the blood transfusion issue thing is certainly a pretty good qualifier, as far as that goes, I would think.

Your hair is certainly beautiful and majestic. Just be really careful if you ever get a job which involves working around big heavy machinery.
i was reading something else on jwn and remembered why i started questioning wts definite statements of fact.. i was asked by a non-jw to prove these 2 points from the scripture:.
1. when did the 2,300 days in daniel 8:13,14 start?
this scripture therefore suggests that jesus himself is the archangel michael.. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1102005160?q=jesus+michael+archangel&p=sen.
“Acluetofindtheuser”: “The problem is they have to have an answer for everything. Why can't they just say, we don't know?”
Well, the WTS can just say whatever idea they want for that day and claim that they are “divinely inspired.” And then, when they have to change (“update”) it, they can still claim to be inspired because “the light keeps on getting brighter . . . .” (yada, yada, yada).
So they’re evidently™ always inspired – at the time they say it, that is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omwmpwllmfg&t=1s alot of this movie made me think about how the jw's control life.
there is something to be taken from this movie and how dangerous cults are.
i know this is hollywood but it really speaks to mind control and it's power.
In the WTS, the doors may not be locked and the windows may not be barred – physically – but that certainly is the case mentally and emotionally in that it wields considerable power through manipulation by undue influence to hold people as prisoners. You’re free to leave – they’ll just hold all your family hostage as a blackmail bargaining tool.
And as for the “bottle of phenobarbital” found in the bedroom in the above clip from The Invitation, that would be the dangerous and debilitating state of mental slumber evoked by the WTS when you surrender your innate critical thinking skills.
Astonishing, isn’t it, how parents can actually be conned and manipulated into, in effect, murdering their own biological children by kowtowing to the not-so-subtle demands of the WTS to uphold its ridiculous and deadly blood transfusion policy. Shameful!
it seemed as if every year a talk would be given in the congregation or at a convention about “secret sins”.
very predictably, witnesses would have pangs of conscience and confess their secret sin.. back in the 70s, one sister with an unbelieving mate went to the elders to confess about husband and her engaging in oral sex.
she was privately reproved for her “sin” and every so often would approach the elders to say she slipped up again.. i know i’d never tell anybody about my sex life just because of misguided guilt.
“minimums”: “Those talks were designed to create judicial meetings in order to cleanse the congregation and allow the free flow of Holy Spirit.”
Boy, Minimus, I can sure relate to your thread! My dad used to scare me about sinning against the holy spirit (thus my username on this Website, “SAHS”: Sinned Against the Holy Spirit) – which made me feel profoundly worthless and effectively made me actually think that I was on “death row” awaiting my eventual yet inevitable and apparently terrifying execution at Armageddon. During that crucial time of puberty, during which I experienced some rather “unnatural” sexual fantasies, I developed an extremely morbid sense of foreboding regarding what I then perceived to be my imminent and ultimate end.
climate change ... who doesn't believe it?
crazy fools and science deniers ... right?.
it seems like it's become the new religion, the new orthodoxy, that must be accepted and believed as gospel and preached to all.. is it ok to be skeptical?.
“waton”: “Avoid using the brakes by coasting.”
Well, what about this newfangled thing called “regenerative braking” – which has been implemented on transit busses and taxis for many years now, especially in developing countries in places such as South America?
“Simon”: “As a species, we seem to gravitate to warmer climates and do better there.”
All these consistent megatons of mass of greenhouse gasses, let alone all the proliferation of additional megatons of particulate matter (suit) from combustion of carcinogenic fossil fuels, HAS TO – and, indeed, IS CURRENTLY – having a profound and adverse affect on all life on our earth, including humanity!
“Simon:” “As a species, we seem to gravitate to warmer climates and do better there.”
Well, it’s already been established that traditionally the lower latitudes have been associated with decreased cognitive ability and motivation (along with increased fighting over resources and ideologies – thus the ideometric term synonymous with southernmost populations: “hot-blooded”).
january 29th - my baptism date.
can you remember how you felt at your baptism?.
i got baptised because my dad kept frightening me.
Actually, I’m 52 years old now, and I know only too well the profound fear about dying at Armageddon. My dad used to scare me about the ‘sin against the holy spirit.’ I was convinced at the time of my own inescapable Divine demise. But now I know the truth about the truth (TTATT). Thank goodness for sites like this which help us all to learn about ourselves.
as the title states there is a ...problem.
allow me to explain.. i'll start with a letter from the president of the wtbs inc in 1974.

Well, the Jehovah’s Witnesses are the right religion. We know this because of the great increase in . . . . (Whoops.) I mean – okay, we are assured it’s the right religion because of all the prophecies the Watch Tower has . . . . (Oh, oh.) Well, okay, we do know it’s definitely the right religion because of the love . . . . (Oh, forget it!) [Satire indeed.]
