have i ever told ya'll about my grande ma ma?
my daddy's mother?
i can't recall.
It's truly a great song, Bizzy. It impressed me that my grandmother loved the song, too. She had a passion for life, a gusto really.

Peace to you, too Happy Dad. She was a colorful, very special book of memories.
She used to take right to her dresser drawer, when we'd visit her, and give us gum with sugar. Now think about it, her husband was a dentist and we had six kids in our family.

Her coupe deville, which only had 23,000 miles on it when I visited her in 1975, was a blue gray color and looked a lot like this:
I'm pretty sure it was a 63 coupe deville, but the 61 and 62 look similar. It has the understated tail fins from the early 60s.

Grandpappy was conquered by stomach cancer during the 1970s. Later Carlita married another dentist named Ken. She had a thang for the dashing gentleman dentists.

Carlita with one of the cannons that Grandpappy built in the machine shop in his basement:

My grandpappy, David, contracted TB from one of his patients, during WWII. He was sent to live in a TB sanatorium in Colorado Springs, Colorado and the whole family moved with him.
Grandpappy and Grandma ma.

Grandma ma, when she was still a young woman.

Some pictures:
The first is my parents with Carlita and my dentist, maxillo facial surgeon, Naval officer grandpappy, having dinner in NYC in early 1961. Carlita is bottom left. Her waist length hair is pinned up. Her father was fullblooded American Indian. Daddy, her oldest son is behind her, Grandpappy to the right of Daddy, Mamma to the right of Grande Ma ma.

(I've had a wonderful grandmother as well, haven't seen her the last decade, since she's still a JW and 'because of her conscience' she's 'not able' to see me again... ever... She's 89 and I terribly miss her )
That's terrible. Makes me want to spit. Mine just simply past away.
I'm glad you all got some good nostalgic feelings from reading about Carlita.
