I tried to research medical directives for other states. I couldn't find anything that wouldn't take hours to plow through. It makes you wonder how many states haven't anticipated this type of situation. Texas is like other GOP domintated places: pro-birth, but not pro quality of life once the child is born. Texas has some of the worst policies on "hand up" programs.

Dead pregnant woman forced to stay on life support, due to TX State law
by adamah inthere's an interesting medicolegal issue arising out of tx, a pregnant women who suffered a pulmonary embolism in november and died (when she was 14 weeks pregnant).. however, the body has been kept on life-support all this time (against her and her husband's wishes), due to an ambiguous tx state law (tex hs.
code ann.
166.049) which actually blocks the ability of the patient and family to decide:.

adamah, what about other states? I wonder how many states could end up with similar predicaments.

She can rest peacefully now with her baby. Did they ever determine whether it was a son or daughter? Maybe they will do an autopsy. They should do one for accurate information in case this kind of tragedy happens again. Very sad and they should not add insult to injury by billing this father for anything other than the initial intake and tests.

Thank you, Par, for your post. Your baby sounds about the same gestational age as my fifth brother, when he was lost. My mother grieved. We siblings grieved. Im grateful to Dad for letting us see him. The medical field backs you up in calling your lost child a baby. You are still pro choice. Im still pro choice, especially since many pro lifers really are only pro birthers, when it gets down to it.

I ask because most women who've been pregnant, who wanted to be, understand that they were or are, if currently pregnant, carrying babies. Im trying to figure out your staunch stand that a fetus is not a baby.

Im looking at your chart again, Adam. Let me point out that the picture representing the word foetus is of an embryo.

Adam, whats the source of your chart? When I get back to my pc, Ill post the entire article.from.the.NIH. All your chart shows is stages of development. No.one is disputing the use of the.term.fetus.to.label.a baby in utero. Arent all mammals called fetuses while in utero post embryonic state? What BOTR.asserts is that a fetus is not ababy. Ive showed.very clearly that even the NIH uses the terms fetus and baby to.describe the human unborn child.

This is NOT a religious country. Women, such as FHN, have no right to impose their beliefs on other women. Mind your own business.
In case you didn't read either of my last posts, BOTR, I AM PRO-CHOICE. Understand? And keep arguing that a fetus is not a baby. The US NIH does not agree with you. Look at the post above. I have NOT said in this thread that I oppose choice and I have stated that I do not know what I would do in the position of this father and the rest of the family. Please, calm down.
