  true believers, whether christian, muslim or whatever, want to convert you, they want you to believe what they do, and they're willing to go to extremes to make it happen.

  Is my clinging on to a belief in a Creator doing me any harm?

  i use the word clinging, as i feel that is what i am doing.

  as far as my knowledge of science, namely chemistry is concerned, i am satisfied there is evidence of a creator.

  i am happy to believe this.

  Kate, one of the kids in Julian's circle took his life a week ago Saturday. He was diabetic and tired of living his life with it. He was deeply depressed. One of the things he did was to overdose himself on insulin. I was doing some research about how an overdose of insulin kills someone. I came across this article and I think you will find it interesting, especially the ending paragraphs. I'm not giving an opinion, either way on it.   So again, the problem is when atheists act like Christians?

  Evangelism is not synonymous with being Christian. It's ironic that some people who disdain evangelistic type behavior, don't see it in themselves, even after becoming atheists.

  Exactly what jgnat said. As for "fighting", the word is just too subjective on a forum. There have been fights of course but most of the time some folks simply can't handle forceful, vigorous debate. We're all different I guess and allowances can be made but sometimes you just need to call a dickhead out.

  He mentioned different camps. The fighting comment has to do with dividing into camps against each other. People can pretend that it's as innocent as just challenging each other to think. It goes much deeper than that, when it comes to the camp comment. Being a JW leaves deep wounds and entrenched behaviors. Thinking that it's necessary to convert people, to a new found belief or disbelief, to the point it is at JWN is very JW-esque.

  Forceful, vigorous debate. I think hardy, passionate, healthy debate is good, in its place. Forceful debate? Do you hear what you are saying? That is exactly how JWs approach things. Hardy, healthy debate would not have seen so many posters banned from JWN over behaviors in the discussions of atheism vs theism.

  I guess it depends on what you mean by united. For me, I took it to mean that we shouldn't be fighting against each other.
