My children and me circa 1985. Unfortunately, we were JWs at the time. We are visiting Stone Mountain Park in the Atlanta GA suburbs.
I'd sure raise these precious children much differently, if I was given the chance.
i don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?

I miss the 80s. I'd do it again. I was in my 20s and my kids were little.
I'll kick it off with The Thompson Twins. "So lay your hands--lay your hands on me!"
are you more amazed by nature documentaries now, or were they better when "god did it"??.
.
dd.
Nature documentaries never mentioned God, as far as I can remember. I grew up in 1960s and 1970s America where Evolution was taught in school as fact and God was not mentioned when it came to science.
sometimes people make special connections to animals.
sometimes they bond very deeply and are real friends.
yesterday was the end of such a friendship that lasted ten wonderful years.

Christopher, my beloved nephew. My heart is with you and Bev, and it breaks for you and gentle, giant Indy. This calls to mind you and your two brothers playing in the backyard when you were little boys, with Shasta the St. Benard and how you guys loved your doggies. I miss you, Chris and I wish I could be there to comfort you.
A song from that time when you were a little boy: 1976. This song is about a couple grieving the loss of their dog named Shannon. If ever I need to let go of emotion, this song will always help me:

for the rest of us, it's not so easy.

Fine, you may not care for his beliefs, but give him credit that he was working where few of us would dare to.
Thank you for saying this, Jgnat.
Ebola is a threat to our entire world. I watched a program about it and it very easily can be taken all over the globe by people with no symptoms, but who are in the incubation period. These brave medical workers who have gone in to try to contain ebola are people every one of us needs to thank.

the facts clearly show either he doesn't exist or doesn't care at all.
Or maybe we are part of some big chess game, played clash of the Titans style. Who knows?
this was on the news this morning.
when you buy gas air is part .
of the service, it should be free.
For anyone under about 40 years old, you're probably unfamiliar with a full service gas station.
Anyone fondly remember the Texaco Jingle? "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star, the big, bright Texaco star!!"
"Shouldn't someone check those for you, everytime?"
i've just glanced out my window and i saw the most picturesque countryside.
i do believe we're entering autumn.
so summer has had its day and like an old friend slipped away and we moves on...how do you feel about entering autumn?.

But winter should not last more than three months. I prefer Mediterranean weather like in Italy or Croatia, with a lot of sun, dry summer, moist spring and short, snowy winter.
I don't like long winters. I especially do not like black ice on parking lots, sidewalks and on roads. I don't like cleaning snow off my car: ice is even worse. I hate that I must get bundled up and wear shoes to go outside. Going for a quick trip to the store is a pain.
I was born on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I lived in Mobile, AL until I was almost seven. Then we moved down to Morgan City, LA, where I lived until the summer I was 11. I love the bright sunshine on the Gulf, but not the very humid heat of summer. I lived in Hawaii, which has beautiful weather, all year long. They have bright sun like the coast. They say they have two seasons, Summer and Winter. There is no autumn or spring. Winter time it got down to 62 Fahrenheit. Not very cold! But they wear light jackets in "winter."
