In the copy of another bible translation this is what Prov. 23 13&14 says
"Don't fail to correct your children. They won't die if you spank them. Physical discipline may well save them from death."
I do believe there is a difference between a spanking and beating. imho
i had an interesting conversation with a jw last week, who insisted that she was not 'brainwashed' and would be prepared to look at any evidence i had that the 'truth' was not the one true truth.. so i went to my book cupboard to get my copies of 'crisis of conscience' and 'signs of the last days - when?

Didn't you say your daughter is 14? Some judges will listen to children over the age of 12 as to who they want to live with. If your daughter wants to stay with you, I know each state is different, but it is an idea.

Believe me, if she does quit her job, nothing would please me more than to throw her out onto the mercy of the WBTS (who of course would look after her in her tribulation!)
Do they really take care of their own? I never saw it with my mom. When my dad died, they did not help her. You'd think they would have come over more than the night of the service, or something. The only ones I see taking care of the widows is other widows. And the fatherless boy? I only see other single moms getting together. Maybe one or two good hearted people, at least thats what I have seen. Or maybe the first month they will be good to her, then stop.

I was never baptized, but my mother and brother were. I was studying. I stopped in September. In my house was my Grandfather, my mother, myself, and my children. My Grandpop died in October. In the whole congregation, only 2 people came to see my Mom.(she has been baptized since 1983, and has missed maybe 2 meetings the whole time she has been baptized. it cut her to the quick) It was her dad. My father died last October. So it was hard for my mom. The two that came, would not even say hello to me. So I just sat in the room and stared at them. More of disbelief than anything. Then today two women who go to my mom's congregation would not even look at me in the store.
I don't get the whole shunning thing. My brother is inactive, and married that "evil girl"(non-jw) and is shunned. Mom never does though. I just don't get it. They look silly looking all over the place.
I know I am. We are going to watch the first two, and then my oldest two boys and I are going to the midnight showing. I just cannot wait!!!!
i carry a few extra pounds but i generally don't overeat.
however, i enjoy a good meal.
but, the organization that says, "let us not judge others" is giving it's members free reign to judge those who are overweight (in the judger's eyes).
