Wow... There More Closet Faders Than I Thought
by pale.emperor inyep, im still fading.
i know it's gonna be a long and meticulous process but so far it's going well.
isnt it funny how when you stop reading the material and stop thinking yourself of being unworthy all the time - eventually you get happier and happier each day and see the world around you the way it is?

Galatians 5:26 was used in and before the 1960`s to not be involved in competitive sports for yourself or for your children
by smiddy inmyself and my peers in the jw organization in the 1960`s discouraged our children from entering into competitive sports because of the jw policy , regarding that scripture .. has their been a radical change since then ?
a re-interpretation of that scripture ?.
why i ask this question is : here in victoria australia where afl football ( aussie rules ) is often regarded as a religion , especially to the state, victoria , we have, according to the media , a devout jehovah`s witness playing professional afl football at a competitive level.. and at their latest win , the team , including alec rance a jw of the richmond club was enthusiastically singing the club victory song along with his teammates on their win .. are their other examples of this in other parts of the world or is this an australian hiccup.. smiddy.

Wolves player Peter Knowles pictured with his wife Jean on their rounds speaking the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses to housewife. In June 1969.Knowles helped to fire Wolves back into the First Division in 1967 and the following season forged a strike partnership with Derek Doogan that kept the club in the top flight.
But it was while competing in a pre-season tournament in Kansas in 1969, designed to help promote football in the US, that Knowles’ career took a sudden and unexpected turn.
While in Kansas, where Knowles scored five goals as a playing guest to help Kansas City win the tournament, he became a Jehovah’s Witness.

Leaving the JW's is like a game of Poker....
by Turquoisepeace inleaving the religion can be likened to a game of poker.
many possible scenarios can be played out during the game and the potential loss or gains are many:.
you have put too many chips in, every round it just seems you will win it all in the end.

I think it's a great analogy, but then, I've been playing poker for fifty years (just realized, wow, I am OLD). As kids, we played 5 card stud and blackjack (21) using toothpicks for chips. Parents let us play 'for fun'. But I digress. Back on topic ...
Playing poker for fun very quickly palls. For a while I joined in a once a week game of 7 card stud, sit down money £10, once it's gone it's gone but you might win 50 quid,
However, it's not enough. It has to hurt a little bit if you lose and feel good if you clean up. So now we play once a month, sit down money £50. That means £250 possible winnings unless you fold the game early.

Oh dear. I have a customer - Dave - who gives me frequent and profitable work sometimes. I'm retired but am happy to do a little bit part-time.
This morning I called to rectify some work he'd had done by a not-so expert "tradesman". On the way out he offered me a down-loaded copy of the latest Watchtower! I said no thanks, not for me. He persisted anyway, but I remained adamant and in the end told him that I wouldn't have JW material in the house. I told him that my parents had been JW's and that the religion had torn my family apart.
And then he told me that he'd been disfellowshipped back in 1980!
And then he told me that he was now going to all the meetings and had applied to be reinstated on 2 occasions and been turned down each time.
I said that the organisation was run by men wearing big Rolex's, is that where he wanted to be? He responded that he was going to try for reinstatement one more time and if it was still no he wouldn't bother with the witnesses anymore.
The guy is loaded financially. I wonder why he bothers?

Awake #4/2016: Homosexuality
by Designer Stubble inthe new awake is up on jw.orgwith the legalization of gay marriage in many countries, they decided it was time to show: "what does thebible say about homosexuality?
"does the bible promote prejudice?still, some people would say that the bible promotes prejudice against homosexuals and that those who adhere to itsmoral code are intolerant.
‘the bible was written at a time when people were narrow-minded,’ they claim.

It amazes me that the WBT$ is passively aggressivly being anti-gay (no surprises there from a faux fundie cult), but through their actions, allow paedophiles to thrive within their ranks. You woul;d have thought that if they were that anti anything sexual that they'd really stop the paedophile thing. But then I suspect they are protecting the higher ups (GB), within the WBT$ who may be paedophiles themselves.
It's about protection alright, but protection from negative publicity. That's their main fear, so they just want to keep it all under wraps. They also need to be seen to doing the right thing, that's why all such cases get referred to HQ who then can decide what degree of hushing-up can be done without incriminating themselves legally.

Berkshire Circuit (UK)
by Dont_Believe_The_Truth ini'm hearing rumours of huge changes within the berkshire circuit here in the uk .
congregations being dispanded and kingdom halls closing down and being sold off.... official announcements within the next month apparently .
does anyone else have anymore info?.
-
snugglebunny
All those congregations are in the Greater London catchment area. The cost of building land there is through the roof. They're obviously trying to raise cash for whatever purpose.. Couple that with the changes in the ownership of the KH's and there's some fishy stuff afoot! -

Anybody who thinks they could permit gay marriage without totally destroying their organisation is living in a fantasy world
Therefore are JW's actually homophobic? If permitting gay marriage would indeed destroy their organisation, then their fear is actually well founded. If it's well-founded and not irrational, then it's not a phobia. Hatred doesn't always equal phobia.
Dictionary.com: Phobia definition, a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it

Shooting in the foot (homophobic video)
by Syme inwith the newly released homophobic video by the wts, it gets clearer that those people can't stop shooting themselves in the foot.
they are already under examination and de facto trial by the australian committee; more and more people and officials in western democracies inquire into their abusive tactics and put them under the microscope, and what do they do?
they release a video which confirms those worries.

To me being Phobic about something, you have to have an irrational fear of it to the point that it is interupting your daily activities. It used to be that to be called intolerant, phobic or bigoted, you had to actually do something mean or harmful to someone else or be behaving irrationally.
The situation now is such that expressing reserve for any aspect of a minority group will result in a person being verbally tarred and feathered. And not just by the members of that group either. John Cleese says it well:

My mother can go on hour long rants about how disgusting gays are. She does this in front of non jw's too and I used to tell her how shocked they were by what she said (you could see it in their faces although she never noticed) but my mother thinks she's giving a great witness by her ranting homophobia! I guess in a way she is... An anti witness!
I used to get the same from my JW mother. However, I have to say that I believe much of her dislike was based on the fact that gays are usually impervious to feminine wiles.. :-)
