What Was The Silliest "Offense" That You Were Counseled For?
by minimus inwhen i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".
so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

Silliest counsel - my ex-wife blacked my eye once (several times actually) and the PO and his assistant came round to see me to tell me to get her into subjection mode. -

When does it end? My marriage is 90% great for the most part, except when it come to this cult
by goingthruthemotions ini know marriage is tough and it takes work on both parts.
we have been together for 27 years.
the last eight have been involved with this cult.

I think your marriage has a good chance because it all took place before you entered the cult. Although I know many couples who have left the JW's together and who have split up following their departure. It happened in my first marriage simply because we both played around once we'd left. Our original faithfulness was based on WT teachings and not our love for one other. But it still hurt like hell. -

Just wondering about witness weddings and what is and isn't acceptable these days. I know that toasts are a no-no, but I'm wondering about other things, such as:
Is it OK to have a best man?
Is it OK to have bridesmaids?
Is it OK for a non-virgin to wear a white dress?
Is it OK for someone to give the bride away?
Is confetti acceptable?

portishead congregation in north somerset is being merged or disbanded on sept 1st 2015 due to "aging elders, poor attendance, decrepit kingdom hall and landslip" - of course the suspicion is wt just wants to sell the hall off.

I believe that Clevedon is famous for being the wife-swapping centre of England on account of there not being much else to do there. -

American accents, Bette Midler, Clinton, Rick Fearon, Strathclyde, Morningside
by slimboyfat ini used to enjoy being able to distinguish different local accents, but for some reason i've got worse at it.
i was thinking about this today when i was listening to bette midler on the scottish radio.
i thought to myself i quite liked her accent and also that it reminded me of someone else.

General American; American's pronounce their "R's", we don't.
Caught and cot sound the same in American.
T's are pronounced as d's.
This voice coach explains the basic rules given to Brit actors playing American parts:

That was back in the day when subscriptions were sold - sorry, 'placed' - for a set price.
Anyone else remember those days? 1960s.
I remember, 7 shillings and sixpence for a full year!
