Inverting the idea, our old circuit used to have some young ladies who extolled the virtues of pioneering by singing "Wonderful, wonderful pioneering" to this old tune:

Reinstated and then fade
by Zeds Dead ini'm a man - d'fd for 2.5 years now and divorced.
find it hard to date girls out here only due to always having this secret i carry with me that i was once a jw and the thought of telling a girl one day why my family don't acknowledge me as even alive.. recently been thinking of trying to get reinstated and then do a quick fade as i cant go back to the whole jw stuff.. easier said than done and was turned down twice by elders after an immediate attempt 2 years ago.. my motivation for trying would be 1.
) to see if family make contact and 2) play the last hand in their game and give the middle finger.. interested in viewpoints?.

It's the act of keeping a secret that's cramping your style! Seriously, I used to find that announcing one had been brought up in a cult could open many doors socially speaking, providing one never moaned about it or did the self-pity thing. In fact, it attracted more females than one would get when walking the dog...

Goddard Resigns. A Big Blow to Justice In Britain
by Slidin Fast ini seems that the child abuse enquiry in the uk has hit the wall again.
its a great pity.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/08/04/child-sex-abuse-victims-say-inquiry-has-descended-into-farce-as/.

I just wonder what names are coming to the fore in this enquiry about historic child abuse. Maybe some names that could rock the British establishment and bring into question the whole UK edifice?

The third to resign? What the hell are these people coming across in their deliberations that make them feel the need to resign?

Jeehoober says we can clap for reinstated ones!!
by DATA-DOG inso, i guess an upcoming wt has some new light on clapping!
evidently, jesus has misinformed the gb/wtbts since the late 90's.
clapping was disrespectful, because jesus felt that those who were df'd should not be given a pat on the back.

Doesnt that fly in the face of the parable of the prodigal Son ?
It does indeed. Especially when the father rushed to him as soon as he saw him in the distance.

I recall back in the 60's WT instructions not to clap at baptisms, is that still the same?

Signs of Toxic Personalities
by Simon incame across this and found it rather interesting:.
http://facthacker.com/18-signs-of-toxic-people/.
it's always good to be able to identify when we may be exhibiting some of these behaviors or, hopefully more likely, to spot the behaviors in others and help avoid the impact they can have.

American does not tend to use the word "bloody" in every paragraph and when having a discussion/debate we do not begin sentences with a deep-sounding "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Heh. Bloody right!
But I am learning to say WOW whenever I'm impressed.

This is very good once you get past the fact that it's written in American as opposed to English..

JW over-rode our Choice of Funeral music
by snugglebunny ina few years on and the funeral of my jw momma still galls me.
she left instructions for which kingdom songs to be sung and we gladly abided by her wishes.
the funeral was held in a public crematorium, not a kingdom hall.

Can you please explain to me how the elder was able to over ride your wishes with the funeral chapel directors. Didn't they consult you that the elder had changed the family wishes. Or did the elder simply say "play the song and I'm not giving the service". I personally know of a JW couple who wanted to get married at the beach but opted for the KH instead because an elder just point blank refused to take the service outside of a KH.
The funeral directors who supplied the coffin and hearse etc. (not the crematorium staff, you don't get to see them at all) asked if we'd like any specific music played as everyone filed out. We supplied the CD to the funeral directors. Momma had requested the singing of Keep your eyes on the prize during the funeral service. The elder in charge replayed Keep your eyes on the prize instead of selecting the Rachmaninov CD. I believe the crematorium rostrum had a set of of buttons from which the desired melody could be selected. As myself and some others attending were disfellowshipped, none of the witnesses present at the funeral spoke with us about the matter. There was nothing I could do about it once the service was over anyway. So as momma's executors, we just sent the local KH the money that she'd willed to them. We didn't get an acknowledgement.
