Im Writing An Ex-JW Self Help Book
by pale.emperor inwe all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.
for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.
we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.

Excellent idea, well done. Suggestions on creating a new friendship circle would be good. We're all sociable creatures; it's not natural to be isolated. Isolation is used as a punishment in some penal systems, over here we talk about sending someone to Coventry as a punishment. Enforced loneliness for breaking religious rules is cruel and heart breaking. Anything to help break out of that isolation is good. Apostafests are great for meeting fellow ex's. Joining a bowls club, darts team or similar can help rebuild social confidence. Just don't accept being alone and friendless as an option.

DF'd in '72 and immediately shunned by my parents. They finally acknowledged my existence after the rescinding WT that came out in the late 70's and didn't go along with them when they rescinded their rescinding.

by stuckinarut2 inso we have all heard the worldwide reports about khalls being sold off and congregations being amalgamated etc.... of course, jws are being told that these actions are a sign of "just how much the work is progressing, and how jehovah is blessing the increase and expansion!".
i can share the following from my part of the world too!.
in perth, western australia the following has occurred.. three "new" congregations have been formed!

A Question of Adultery
by snugglebunny inquestion: if a jw married lady is accused of adultery and a judicial committee is formed to investigate the matter, is the lady's jw husband also invited to attend as the possibly injured party?.

Morph, I can see the young lady's dilemma. She would feel that she must tell everything to get forgiveness. As a teenager, I'd received a confession from another teen in our old congo. I advised her to confess all to our PO, who just happened to be my father. He was away at the time and I felt unable to handle my knowledge, so I telephoned him to warn him that a confession of fornication was on it's way. He advised me to to go and talk to the lady and tell her haste was everything and that he was returning on such and such a date. He then told me to tell her to hold nothing back when she confessed, otherwise her confession would be invalid.

Thanks Morpheus. My own experience was that my first wife, who had been something of a wanderer once, had engaged in a brief one-night affair just after I had been disfellowshipped for an apostasy matter. We decided to try to make our marriage work, but she felt that she needed to confess less she got the chop at the Big A. So she went to the JC and received an official reproof. However, I have to tell you that what was essentially a personal matter between the two of us now become a subject for discussion between her and the 3 men of the JC, which really pissed me off. Being DF'd meant I was not invited to attend the JC. This did not do anything to help our own situation at all. In fact, 3 months later, we both found the situation intolerable and parted and were subsequently divorced. In retrospect, being divorced was the best thing for both of us, but it could have been an easier process if there had been no input from the men of the JC.

Slang or Terms Only Used by Bethelities
by new boy inthere are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.
there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.
here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.

Bethel Boy's Weekend = Glorious piss-up in bethel boy's home town, accompanied by other bethel boys who live too far away to go home for the weekend, usually held in the Juniper Berry, Southampton in the company of several young (and nubile) sisters all on the hunt for a bethel boy husband.

The fact that the word "organisation" doesn't appear in the Bible, let alone any reference to such a thing as "Jehovah's organisation".
