contrary to claims by american sociologist rodney stark who predicts strong future growth for jehovah's witnesses, voas shows that jehovah's witnesses' efforts at recruiting new members have become increasingly unsuccessful over the past few decades: the rate of increase has steadily declined, and the number of hours each publisher must preach to produce an extra convert has gone up substantially.
voas suggests a reason for the stagnation may be that there is a natural limit to the number of people in a given population that are susceptible to conversion to sectarian groups like jehovah's witnesses - the 'carrying capacity' of the population, and that the limit has largely been reached.

in the presence of god i make this vow.”.
the decision doesn’t come as a surprise: meghan has long been a vocal feminist, working with organizations like one world vision to learn about the challenges facing women and girls living in dubai and mumbai.

by snugglebunny inapparently this is an advertising slogan for the thermapen bbq temperature gauge.. note 1 of the food standards agency document shows us that, “cooking food until the core temperature is 75c or above will ensure that harmful bacteria are destroyed.“ this is the reason why i use the saying “75 – stay alive!” to help people remember the final temperature of well done meats.
if you read further down the document you will see there are other variations, but for the bulk of what we do at home, cooking food to an internal temperature of 75c will mean you serve up food that is safely cooked, time and time again.
it will also save so many people from overcooking food and allowing it to become dry and tough.. oh well.

The emotionally manipulative techniques JW families use.
by stuckinarut2 ini am really disturbed by some methods that jw family members try and use to emotionally manipulate us back into the organization.. one of our fellow posters here has had a family member send several photos of them as a child either out witnessing, and at an assembly.. no words - just those pictures.. it seems such an infantile and manipulative technique to employ?!.
do they think that we will all simply ignore the logical and factual reasons we no longer attend, just because we see some sentimental picture?
do they not see that this actually may reinforce our understanding that we were raised as children in a high-control religious group where we had to please our parents.

They want you back in but it has to be on their terms. Instead of being attracted by warmth and kindness, they need you to be desperate for some form of association. In a way it's rather like the way some folk operate on FB when they're trying to make a political point; they keep upping the ante with more and more extremism in the hope that some mud will stick to the wall. Nuts.

It was a grand ceremony of the rich elite to show just how rich and elite they are.
I am of British descent but I'm not a Royalist.Monarchy is good for the UK. The monarch has no political axe to grind and can speak out for the people in her weekly meetings with the Prime minister. Also she's totally self-funding. She's inherited massive land-holdings and retains just 15% of the income from those holdings. The rest goes to the UK Treasury.
