This Forum. Has it changed? For the better or for the worse? Or not a at all?
by ThomasCovenant inwhen i post i try to imagine that i am at a social gathering or sometimes in someone's house as a dinner guest.
that way it is easier to follow the community guidelines and posting rules set out on the site at the bottom of the page.
i wouldn't want to make a fool of myself in public.

Anyone know any former long time Bethelites or circuit overseers?
by BourneIdentity inas you know, when you work your whole life, you pay into social security.
at retirement, you collect a paycheck from the government based on a percentage of income you drew for all those years.
do any of you know anyone that had been at bethel for decades and then were laid off?

Any UK person or couple with insufficient or even no pension contributions can claim Pension Credit at, or sometimes before, retirement age. https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit/what-youll-get

Is it OK to teach your children that Homosexuality is wrong?
by Thomasdam ini know a few family's who have left the cult but send their kids to a religious school because of the public schools teaching many times that homosexuality is ok. the bible is clear that its a sin.
there is no just love each other and its all ok. i don't believe in the bible or any religion.
i have a niece who came out as gay and i told her i don't care.

I am no more hostile toward homosexuals than I am toward any other disabled person, but I also refuse to CELEBRATE homosexuality as some "fabulously" admirable trait.
I have to agree. I really don't care about someone's sexuality. It only pisses me off when either they, or some band-wagon jumper, insists that I take some sort of stand or make some sort of statement of support or opposition to their life style.

I don't see why parents need to be specific about homosexuality. Gays make up a tiny proportion of the population as a whole. Maybe parents would be better off teaching children just to treat everyone with respect and leave out the specifics. That way, sexuality, gender and religious beliefs will just be an incidental non-event.

Refusing a blood transfusion
by BourneIdentity inhello all, first post.
i've been lurking for months and figured it was time to post a few things, i've been pimo for the last couple of years.. i was doing some thinking about an adult refusing a blood transfusion, especially one that has several children.
when you married and had children, you signed up to take care of them, to love and protect them.

Two For One!
by snugglebunny inback in the day - yeah, i know, most things i write start like that!
however - back in the day there was an implicit rule ratio of 2 to 1 when it came to counting time.
two witnesses witnessing to one person for one hour would count one hour each.

I'd drop a few leaflets into random homes when I was walking home from work and count the time. It prevented me from becoming irregular....

Two witnesses witnessing to one person for one hour would count one hour each. Two for one! One hour received by the householder and two hours counted on the Report Card. So pioneers used to love accompanying publishers on remote Bible studies to ramp up their hours.
So today I finally answered my own question when I observed two witnesses attending one (very depleted) witness cart at one end of our local High street and another (also very depleted) witness cart about 100 yards away that was attended by one lone JW.
Clearly, 3 dubbies had turned up to man the one witness cart. But rules being rules about counting time, they'd gotten by the 2 for 1 rule and split the display in half. BTW, it was also as windy as hell in the High Street today, I didn't see anyone else between the 2 carts apart from me. Obviously these three guys were gonna hang in there, literally holding on to their hats and drinking from their Thermos flasks until they'd got their time in.
What a daft way to live.

Are You Horrifed if Someone Goes Into a “Massage Parlor”?
by minimus inyesterday, robert kraft, the owner of the new england patriots, got busted for getting a massage and more.
they say there is another more high profile person who also got busted.. does this stuff upset you that some men have gone into a massage parlor for possibly more than a massage?
?.

I'd turn my nose up if a friend of mine went into a massage parlour. All the talk about personal freedoms and it's none of my business doesn't alter the fact that I'd think it was pretty yukky and the person concerned would go way down in my esteem.
