by Gratefullyunstuck inmaybe i'm reading too much into this, but ever looked in a dictionary for the definition of watchtower ?.
watchtower (wchtour)n.an observation tower on which a guard or lookout is stationed to keep watch, as for enemies, for forest fires, or over prisoners.. .
slightly interesting, observation = gb, enemies= worldly folk and prisoners =rank/file.

Dancing with the Stars vs Friday evening service meeting
by FadeToBlack inso funny.
last week (start of new season for dws in poland - apparently still very popular) my wife did not feel so well, so she stayed home.
but, she was well enough to watch the entire show as opposed to going to bed to rest.

Voting and elections
by Powermetal4ever ini've been thinking about the fact that jws dont vote in elections.
the main reason for this, i guess is that they shall not be a part of this world and so on.
there was no election in the times of jesus, so yes i understand that it needs an intepretetion, but why is that intepreted that they shouldnt vote?

I think I'll skip to answer those questions blondie But yes I am surprised by no.5. But that does only give me more fuel to the doubts I'm having. Care to give any examples of those groups?

I've been thinking about the fact that JWs dont vote in elections. The main reason for this, I guess is that they shall not be a part of this world and so on. There was no election in the times of Jesus, so yes I understand that it needs an intepretetion, but why is that intepreted that they shouldnt vote? Its a bit stupid in my opinion. What would have happended if JWs had voted in countries where they are persecuted? For example in Germany before Hitler came to power, I dont know how many JWs there were in Germany by the time, or if it had made any difference though... Anyway, just some thoughts thats circulating my mind.

How many use iPads or tablets in your cong?
by stuckinarut2 ina question for those that still attend meetings.... how many use tablets or ipads in your hall?.
i did roving microphones this week, and i counted 43 people (variety of ages) out of an audience of 98!.
just curious....

In my cong theres not that many, maybe 10 outta 50 or something. I actually bought a tablet because I saw other using it in the meetings, and I wanted one myself. I also thought I could sit and check other things or even play, while on meetings, but I havent dared yet... Guess you have to sit at the back or something, so no one sees.

Thanks for all the welcome so far and thanks to everyone saying my english is fine I think music, and especially metal has been a kind of escape for me. I often use to listen to my MP3 when I going to and from meetings. And yes, still going on those , although not as often as before.

Honesty: Yes I have a feeling about that too, but I wonder why that is, is it because my music choice isnt mainstream? Seems like mainstream-rock are more little more accepted for some reason, or? I might be wrong.
JWdaughter: Thanks for those encouraging words!
Oubliette: Just a fan

Thanks cofty! And to you Cadellin, I am 20+, and actually I have moved out, it does make it a bit easier I guess. Although I have quite strong ties with my parents, I mean, they are nice and friendly when it comes to other stuff than the "truth". And I am afraid thats gonna change if I quit totally. About fading, yes, that is something I am thinking about. I have already began it in mind a long time ago.

Thought I am gonna introduce myself. I am a girl from a country in Europe, and not an english speaking one, so if I am writing strange or something, you know why. Anyway, have been reading here for a while now, the other day I thought it was time to register as a member. I am still a JW, not very active, dont do ministry anymore for example. Its boring and I hate it. I do things that I am sure JWs would say are worldly, but of course I am hiding it in the congegration. Been baptised for almost 10 years now, and I havent progressed much at all, I was a pioneer one month in all those years, hated it. Got baptised mostly because of my mum... my father is in as well, but he wasnt hesitating that I should get baptised.
I never really believed in god, dont know if I do now either. But I am not sure that I can tell her :( Feels like I'm on a masquerade everytime I go to the meeting. I have always hated to sit and listen, even now when I'm fully grown up. Also hate the special clothes you have to wear, never been comfortable in a skirt.
And not to mention the assemblies of all kind, really really boring and a pain in the ass. Recently I have began to doubt even more than ever, partly because of reading here and on other sites. And partly because I have began to understand that there are many other religions and cults that claim they got the "truth". I have read the mormon magazine for example. (dont ask why) And I found a lots of similarities in the way the write and so.
Anyway,I think I gonna write some more here as time goes by, got a lot of thoughts and questions I'd like to share.
