What was your first public bible reading? And when?
by Mandrake ini perfectly remember that, rehearsing with mom, trying to read with enough emphasis and in a proper tone.
i was 5 years old, back then in 1996 i think, and the portion was james 5:1-13.... i found today that i still know the first verses by heart!!!
it's actually a cherished memory for me, i came to memorize those because mom had me starting the reading all over again until i got to read it properly... and in time!!!

I also presented an "experience"
at an assembly, I was maybe 16 by the time (now 25)... Now I look behind it all and it's so weird...
and about public readings, I just remembered the sound of the podium getting adjusted for my height... That sound is along in my memory with the anxiety of being seated in the front row just waiting for my name to be announced!

hehehe can i tell you something? most comments are BAD... they are discussing how this very same talk was given 2 years ago and it's maybe the only material he can deliver in spanish...
currently i'm not watching the video... and well i would like to free translate a comment that took my attention, it goes:
this speech was presented in the zone visit 2 years ago in mexico, i think is the only one he has in spanish. i'm currently an active JW (but completely AWAKE), mi reason to stay is my family and that it's not easy to leave them back. i was fortunate enough that my parents always thought i had to study a proper career to be prepared for life and they were not taking watchtower advice toward education. for this reason or whatever other, now i'm a graduate and have plenty.
others are discussing about "Manipulating", "golden rolex", "court hearings", "lies" etc etc... i'm happy for my fellow spanish speakers :)

It seems that these first time assignments left they mark on us! So sad It was a bit traumatic for you jookbread...
In time it seems that the ability to speak in public and other oratory skills are of the very few thinks I thank my JW upbringing, As zappa-esque noticed also

I remember also that at that time it was not only a mere reading, you had to write a little comment about it all. Mom has recently got out of the JW-dom completely, so all that seems even more distant in space and time and somehow I'm getting a very melancholic feeling about it!
what was your experience?

Memorial Audience Filled with Unbelieving Mates and Other Miserable Relatives
by xjwsrock ini looked around my hall and saw so many miserable unbelieving mates and relatives it was actually funny.
they were in a glazed-over stupor.
they looked liked children forced to go to an opera.
