No. I will not "ball point" that for you.

Tax laws for non-profits and charitable organizations are fairly complex and require quite of bit of time investment. I recommend, if you really are interested in this...to do your own research. This topic has been covered in past threads.

You continue to make observations and analysis based on the WTS following a "business" model. A nonprofit business model does not look or behave the same as a for profit corporation.

And no, I am not going to 'ballpoint' those differences for you - you will have to do that work yourself.

TheRebel: I appreciate the long thread but it seems to have gone of topic.

That is your opinion. In most discussion 'circles', it is common for participants to throw ideas around to discuss. It is rare that the one who asked the first question gets to control the input of others who are participating.

To clarify I am not qualified in business, so please explain how the W.T:-
a) How laying of " volunteer" bethelites even comes remotely close to solving the pursumed financial problems that the organisation has.

As was pointed out - one of the outcomes of laying off volunteer bethelites is tied up with the WTS keeping tax exempt status for nonprofit activities.

b) How an organisation does not realise the drastic measure of making " volunteer" employees redundant ". Even mind controlled sheep understand these people have no pension, or paidsocial security contributions, ect ect. Surely this will result in many awakening and leaving, or at least no longer contributing financially?
I don't get it.

That is why the ones who have participated in this conversation have attempted to give you some answers. You call that "getting off topic". We don't. We call it an 'open/public' discussion, not one that is controlled and directed by you, the one asking the question.

Just because you are not getting the answers that you want, does not mean the thread has gone off topic.

Maybe. But I think that Sanderson is too "clean". He hasn't been around there long enough to get too much dirt under his nails.

He is a good candidate to step up to the plate and clean things up. His face is all shiny clean and his assets would be best utilized in a cleanup role.

Splane is the one who had made some public comments about the WT building projects and such a few years back - he has already stuck his neck into the noose.

Hahaha! maybe we could start a "pool" on the GB who are the most likely to be "stoned".

What is coming next in WT land?

I think we will see disfellowshipping of one or more of the GB. It is the WT pattern and tradition. Whenever there is trouble - the WT finds a scapegoat to take away all their sins.

My money is down on Splane...anyone want to give me odds? It is either Splane or someone else who is going to turn out to be 'Nehemiah'.

The restructuring of Bethel workers, etc has everything to do with falling in line with allowable tax exemptions under charity law.

The WTS will do whatever is necessary in order to hold onto their precious tax exempt status.

faithful and always so very discrete in many things but when it comes to the lord's money not so good.. i think as it begins to register in their minds as to what a terrible job they have done as ceos of a large corporation leading it into this condition that thoughts of suicide come from.

not to mention the shame at being a public spetical to the world by the rc.

all these things and more are creeping through their denial as they are forced to face reality.

Yeah. Suicide doesn't benefit a psychopath. Threatening suicide does...but not actually carrying it out.

I think the GB will behave in traditional JW manner - they will symbolically kill one or more of their group. I think a GB disfellowshipping/stoning scandal is likely.

This very same topic has been discussed on Catholic forums - whether the Catholic "confidentiality" is affected by what came out after the RC and Applewhite's testimony. It might not, but the Catholic world was speculating about it at that time.

There's a distinction there I think OC....

Of course there is a distinction. That is why the WT's claim for confessional privilege should not be treated as the same as the Catholic's privilege and the WT should not be allowed to argue for the same protection under the law. The WT's claim for clergy privilege takes liberty with what that legal protection was originally meant to be - something said between a person and God - with a priest acting as mediator in that exchange - and never repeated outside the privacy of the confessional booth.

*to add: Is a JW elder even 'allowed' to keep a confession between him and the person confessing? Even by their own manual, the elder is directed to break this confidence, is he not? If someone chose to approach an elder with a 'confession' isn't he directed to report that?

The notion that the JWs are entitled to "confessional privilege" is a joke.

Mephis: They'll fight this one tooth and nail, they have to or the whole sham of 'confessional privilege' to avoid reporting collapses in every common law country.

And now we know why Monica Applewhite, the Catholic woman who touched the WT sacred manual, was on the stand in Australia. Her own sacred institution's practise of hiding behind "confessional privledge" is on the table.

DataDog: It's subjective for sure. Science can't even explain how humans pick up certain subtleties of human behavior. Is it a survival instinct?
Sometimes we get a "gut feeling" about someone, or a situation. What's going on? Are we analyzing data on a subconscious level?

It is the right brain functioning that is responsible for detecting these subtleties of behaviour.

The right side of our brain is responsible for pattern recognition. It stores all the information on patterning and while we are looking at a person's face, it is frantically checking expressions against all its stored knowledge of recognizable patterns. When something is 'off' the right side of our brain knows it and sends out a signal to the left side of the brain.

But the problem is that the right side of the brain doesn't have language. It has no words. No way of communicating in the left side rational language system. So it does what it can. It makes our stomachs queasy, it makes our hearts flip. Sublte and sometimes not so subtle body reactions.

Those are those 'intuitions', the feelings that we have and so often ignore, choosing decisons based on our preferred 'rational' side of the logical left brain.

People with well-connected corpus callusum and balanced brain fuctioning are usually better at reading and interpreting those right brain pattern recognition signals that are always operating below the consciousness.

Yes, we are analyzing data at a subconscious level. All the time. With the right side of our brains.
