So...tell me, please, how many lives have you lived? Do your reincarnation beliefs go along with your thought vibrations belief?
after 1975, the vast majority remained as though nothing has happened.
but some left the organization.
however, there arose a third category who did not leave the organization, but brought a new view into their heart: jws are right in their core cause (gods kingdom as the solution to mankinds problems) but may or may not be right in their supplementary teachings, hence are not bothered about changes happening in this unimportant area..

Don’t make such personal attack on dignified people of an esteemed organization which has more good things than bad. Just because you were disciplined by the JWs org, you cannot blindly attack this org and its leaders.
You are free to disagree with an organization, but personal attack is not warranted. It is still my motherly organization. Just like this forum has its terms and conditions, violation of which would invite deletion or disfellowshipping, JWs also have. Hence there is no difference between this forum and JWs. Members of JWs are dignified in their speech. But go through this forum and see how many members of this forum measure up to basic manners. In all my lives, I have never heard anyone uttering the word bullshit or shit among JWs--even in our formal settings like during cong.picnic. Here in this forum, shit is the word we here more than any other word.
I invite all of you, come back to JW organization--try to learn from them the basic etiquette at least in speech.
a bethelite was telling me that there are 83,000 theocratic facilities world wide.
he compared that to 35,000 mcdonalds and 21,000 starbucks roughly to show the size of the theocratic organization.
i am not sure where the 83,000 comes from what would he be counting?
vidiot: If a GB member used an outhouse, would it become a "theocratic facility"?
Yes, but only if the outhouse had been built with donations.

I am pretty sure it is true, Kate.
1914the turning point in history.
30 from the human standpoint, the world troubles and global wars foretold in the bible were far from the thinking of the pre-1914 world.
german statesman konrad adenauer said: thoughts and pictures come to my mind, .
Charles Russell's 1914 prediction was based upon his belief that the establishment of a Jewish Homeland in Palestine would be the "New Jerusalem" and as such would be a fulfillment of God's Promise and the end of "this system of things".
Russell was a Zionist and his prediction about 1914 was rooted in the political events surrounding the establishment of a Jewish State.

Yeah....
Funny, isn't it? :)
Comedy is like that.

"Standard" of activism.
= using the philosphies of an activist approach in order to define a comedic performance.
Standard = measurement.
Standard of activism = using the notion of activism as a way to measure comedy

Flipper: The fact that so many rank & file JW's continue to stay trapped inside the walls of WT Society control indicates they are controlled through fear and guilt of leaving. So they are still indoctrinated and controlled through fear and guilt anyway you slice it .
It isn't just the fear and guilt that keeps people trapped in the JW doctrines - it is the person's own insecurities that keep them there. They want to feel "special" and part of an "elite", better than others, "saved". Leaving the JW doctrine means having to live a life without the false promise of "life everlasting right here on this earth".
Holding onto JW theology/doctrine is actually a classic move (and one I did when I left way back at the age of 13/14) for many that are struggling with the deceptive practices of the WTS. I had to hang onto what I knew because I hadn't had the opportunity to explore any other options. I had the idea that "if Jehovah is real, he will understand that I am trying to be good" and that I would get my pass into paradise anyways.
However, I grew out of that thinking many years ago (long before information was as readily available as it is now). It was the recognition that the "us" and "them" thinking that the WTS had instilled in me was counter-productive to my recovery and I gladly shed off the elitist thinking that had kept me bound in a mental prison.
I think that people who reject the Org but retain the beliefs are doing so because of a need to hold onto the false promise of paradise and the need to believe that they are "special". It is sort of like "having your cake and eating it too". They want the promises. They want their "reward" for being good because they are special.

Simon, I am fully aware of the power of comedy as a resistive force. Without question it can function that way.
However, that does not mean that all comedy performances have to be held to the standard of activism.
And, to expect comedy to function within a proscribed moral space that makes judgements on the use of profane language is ignoring the diversity of the audience.
